Now i know i cant really draw well.. I haven't done any drawing in like 2 years so getting back into it. I been drawing this place for about 3 hours or so.. So just having a break wanna have some ideas on how the perspective of this should be.. It does look kinda wrong to me..

But just to say this is just a extremely rough sketch.. basically its a entrance to a bar i know.. I have no idea how to draw concrete in pixel art the one table is concrete.
How i done them before was using patterns(textures) in photoshop. but wanna a more cartoon look. would like some ideas

Something im a bit better at is characters.. Would like to know if i got the postures kinda bad..

Thanks for any help..

A fun way to check how things would be with proper perspective is building a simple, basic 3D model of your location in one of the many CAD programs, for example the freely available Google Sketchup. Then you can find an interesting angle for showcasing your scene, make a screenshot of this 3D mock-up, import it into Photoshop and start drawing over it, modifying it as it pleases you.

OK well im half asleep but i gave google sketch a quick try.. Problem i have with google sketch everything always seems bigger then i want..

If just modifying the parameters and sizes doesn't work for you, I guess you're looking for something like the wide angle lens effect that is often seen in the movies (the angles are skewed a bit, but you can see more of the background).

There's a filter for Sketchup that emulates camera lenses - it's combined with the zoom tool:

1. somewhere in the menus, I haven't got SU installed right now so I can't check, there's an option to change the camera viewing angle (it's in milimeters/inches/degrees) so you might want to make and adjustment on that.
EDIT: Ascovel beat me to it, look at those links

2. best practice is to try and use real world ratios and measurements (for chairs, doorways, tables etc.). So if a doorway is 2,2 meters high in real life, then make it the same height in SU. It may be a bit tedious to start with, but it's well worth it in the end.

3. please make sure the points connect correctly, there's so much wrongly connected spaces here.
SU has really a nice magnet when you're drawing, if you want to draw two cube the same height, you make one cube, then basically you just hold your mouse pointer over an edge or an ending point of the cube and then when you build another object, when you come near the same height, SU will automatically try to match heights. (I can't really explain this to you any clearer, you just kind have try it for yourself or look up some tutorials)

4. you can adjust the texture size in SU, so make it realistic (although I wouldn't use a texture at all, just plain white surfaces, if I were going to paint it over later).
I don't want the world, I just want your half

Alright i think i made qutie a improvement i gotten better at drawing with layers and so on.. Been reading alot.. I started this off new from Goggle sketchup..

Any criticism would be cool.

Is the horizon line supposed to be so high?

zabnat

You should go back and think about your composition. Now most of the background is ground. You can't even see the name of the bar.
Compare the composition to this:
[imgzoom]http://www.mobygames.com/images/shots/l/1933-leisure-suit-larry-1-in-the-land-of-the-lounge-lizards-dos-screenshot.jpg[/imgzoom]
Camera angle is lower so there is much less ground visible and that will help you fitting characters to the background because there is less walkable area and less scaling involved.

Danman

@zabnat  I know what you mean.. my plan is to make more outside view when you walk in.. a slight bit like leasure suit larry 2 on the cruise ship. then zooms in close to the door.. when u close to it..

Armageddon  what do you mean horizontal line ?? .. That in the middle meant to be like a grill thing like umm a drain

Armageddon

If you don't know what a horizon line is you need to pretty much just read the Wikipedia page about perspective.

For the perspective you have now, unless the whole game is at a half tilt you'd have to redraw your characters to match the perspective, not fun.

Danman

Okay kinda know what you mean.. Thinking redrawing characters i only got those two as sorta character sketchs.. i know what characters i want.. What they look like.. Just not sure about drawing them at that perspective

Is English not your first language?

Danman
