Title: Drawing Characters.
Post by: Sewer Agent on Sun 13/02/2005 14:42:18
I find the whole point of drawing characters frame by frame very time consuming and hard. I was wondering if I am making the characters wrongly or if anyone could give me any tips on how to make people look like they are walking.

Thanks.

Also consider taking a look at some other sprites that are out there, or actual human walkcycles. I mentioned a bunch of sites just recently at: http://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/yabb/index.php?topic=19060.0

Enjoy!

This IS the Critics Lounge. If you post your walkcycles we can help you better them.  Keep in mind a lot of it is practice. You can't just say to yourself that you're gonna make the best walkcycle in the world and do it. There's a lot of try and retry.

Start out with low detail characters until you feel comfortable, then work your way up.  It is much easier to animate a character drawn in 5-6 colors than it is one made with 24.  Keep shading to a minimum, the size of the character reasonable, and you should be fine.
