Edit 1:

Edit 2:

What do you think? The only thing I need to add are the boxes, still need to plan this out though.

Which one looks best? Does it look like a dream? How could I make it more of a childhood memory/flashback?

Thanking you in advance

Magintz

Woo.
I like the change.
Just two thing, the perspective on the stove is kinda off, and the smudge effect is kind of... out of place.
I say keep #1.

Thanks, I've been trying to keep it very noir, and the only reason I added the smudge was to make it seem more "dreamlike". Whenever I dream I know nothing is that clear or crisp, so I wanted it to appear hazy, no fine detail, no nothing really. Just plain and simple. I don't feel happy leaving it as clear as Edit 1, but I think Edit 2 isn't right.

I can totally understand what you are saying but feel that something needs to be done, if any artists out there can help I would much appreciate it.

Thanks HWG for the c+c

you should smudge outwards, so that instead of circles facing inwards into the picture (as in #3), they should face outwards. Not too sure, but you could perhaps blur up the picture, or add some sort of hazy fog effect, not just at the border, but throughout the whole picture

well if you would like to put some deep work then i would suggest that you would make this blur move like this:

Wow!Ã,  Everybody is helping out today!

I definately think your edit 2 is the best of the three.

I made a radial (zoom) blur effect which seemed dream-like to me ...

Of course, with all of these suggestions (and your edit 2 image) walkbehinds would be a bitch!

Just another idea. Used Radial Blur set to:
amount: 6 for image 1, 4 for image 2, and 8 for image 3 in the animation
Blur Method: Zoom
Quality: best

Just and idea

another idea: try to animate the borders, maybe it'll look good...

Here's also another idea. When I looked at your images, I got the feeling that the dream scene nessessarily wasn't a pleasent one by the use of the monotone colors. All the garbage I put in the scene is film grain, dust, hairs, etc... (like the dream scene was being played back on film)

I don't know if this is for a cutscene for you, but either way you could easily use a background animation of the film grain, dust and hairs moving around, giving that film look while the character is moving around (of course the EGO would also be in B&W for the full effect) in the dream!

Just another idea to help you brainstorm. Good luck!

The only problem he would have is that the character appears in front of the film grain (moving lines, etc) which would throw it off.  I think the radial blur version he used will work great for what he is doing.

Did this with fractal trace in gimp but I don't think it's what your looking for.

Oooooh - just had a good idea. If it's a childhhod memory maybe you should have a lower vantage point to symbolize your size as a kif - you know every thing looks taller and you see it from the bottom up

Wow, some great C+C as well as help.

I think Darth Mandarbs one is the best, although walk-behinds would be a real pain, Although I am using a plain black stick-figure I'm not sure how that would work (would I even need walk, behinds)

Also I'm tempted to add in what Frisby said, maybe some skew effect to make everything seem really big and at a looking-up perspective

Hmmm. Needs more shadows and also some metallic effects on that heater looking thing.

In reguards to Darth's edit, you could always make the blured forground a transparent object. That way you dont have to set any walkbehinds.
