Well.
This is more of a doodle than a sketch, 10-15 minutes.
It's kind of crappy, but it's 12pm, I've been up for 24 hours, and um, I can't draw :)

I should really work on anatomy, figure drawing etc., but whenever I try to, my proportions get funky and I get discouraged, and stick to head drawing.
Which I'm also not that good at.
So crit it, please.
Be harsh.

(And yes, I did make her wink because I couldn't get the other eye to look right [still doesn't look right, but meh]).

Well, one of the eyes does look a little slantier than the other... All around, it's pretty nice, though.

:O winking! at me!

Very nice Highwagal.

But one thing i have notived that myart teacher always bugged me about is the bones under the skin. On this picture you haven't made them very pronounced. Another thing is that, even though this is a picture of a youthful lady, she still get wrinkles where the skin has compressed like where she is winking! at me! so add some more wrinkles there (not to many).

I think thats about all i can pick out at the moment. Nice ;). I love the hair for some reason.

hehe u cheated a bit by making an angle between head and image sides but still if u make an axis u will notice that her right part of head is bigger than left(wider). there is another thing - eyebrow is in not very natural position coz its raised on wrong eye. when u wink other eye raises brow and its lowered on winking eye. plus eye is just closed and not winking on ur picture.

I don't really understand what you mean here.
Quoteif you make an axis you will notice that her right part of head is bigger than left(wider).
Actually, if you look closer, you see that what makes it wider on the right side is the hair. Both sides are approximately the same size.

Ah yes. I notice that now. It looks... awkward.
Quoteplus eye is just closed and not winking on your picture.
Yup, I noticed that too.
Problem is I don't really know how to make it look like she's winking.

Some pretty sloppy modifications:

I removed the rings simply because I don t like jewelry.

(and yes, the hair looks crap).

Edit:

Some things to consider:

(i) A nose that is too small will just look weird, not make it cuter.
(ii) Eyes that are so large that the distance between them is less than an eye s width will make the model uglier.
(iii) The ears should be roughly the size of the distance between the eyebrosw and the ears.
(iv) The upper gap in the upper lip should correspond to the size of the lowest part of the center of the nose.
(v) The pupil is rarely larger than about half of the iris size.
(vi) The eyewhites are rarely larger vertically than about 75% of the iris. (if the whole iris is visable, the character will look scared or surprised).

Man, Loominous, as usual, you've made my day.
I'm going to go study your modifications a bit.
So damn helpful.

Say, Loominous, would you mind sharing your edit with construction lines and all?
Unless you didn't use any.
Also a non-animated version would be much appreciated.

loominous

Glad you found it helpful.

Didn t use any constructionlines when I did it, but they re easily added.

Here s the cel shaded frame (somewhat cleaned up):

Quotehow have you done to make the lines that clean,

Not sure if they re very clean, but I would guess it s a matter of doing single strokes instead of multiple (I stink at them though so I have to redo the longer ones about 10 times (just keep your hand on ctrl-z and keep going until it looks decent)). The varying thickness can be difficult do achieve without a tablet, but is  fairly easy when using curves.
