ThreeOhFour

This woman in a dress I was drawing to try and have a go at showing features below fabric.

I think I placed too much focus on her chest... do I need to make lower body proportions larger, or is it fine?

And how did I go with the colouring?

Buckethead

All looks fine to me. Maybe change the color of her gloves to the color of her dress.

Nine Toes

Her shoulders.  There's something wrong with them.

To be more precise, they should be narrowed or something.  They make her look like a bodybuilder.
Watch, I just killed this topic...

Las Naranjas

Her right arm also tapers to a strange extent

Very good sprite!

Some minor face adjustments though:

;D

Argh... I go and do an edit and someone does one...

Anyway, here is the arms and shoulders fixed (I did two versions coz I'm not sure about her left shoulder...

I think that Zor's edit is pretty cool... I was worried that the eyes looked a bit anime-ish (not the style I was after). And I wasn't sure about the dark eyebrows. But that new edit is freakin sexy... I shall head back to paint...

Buckethead

Zor's edit made me realize that her look is rather evil. her shoulders look fine to me  :)

I know what looks a bit off to me, the leg on the left isn't the same proportions as the one on the right. Perhaps bulk up the left one, and maybe make it a bit longer, whatever you think looks best after editing. The way you have outlined the legs, it makes it look like you can see through her dress. The dress should be draping slightly between her legs.
Here's a crude example.
The way her torso is positioned, I think the upper arm on the left should like this. It looks better to me.

I still think you should do something about her face. Her eyes don't match, one has under eye makeup and the other doesn't.

You're on the right track cloth wise, but her proportions need some work. Her hips are very slim and her right leg is short. Making the knee in the foreground bigger will help, but it might still need a few pixels to the length.

All the major anatomy oddities has been taken care of, and Drawkens take puts a bit off effort into the strange dress. In the previous versions, it seemed like she was placed within a red jelly blob.

You still need to work a bit on the fabric. It might work with keeping the upper line, and removing the other two, but it is not the most suitable solution. I'd try to find a reference picture of dresses and how the fabric is shaped, and go from there.

The design of the character is rather nice. Very eviliscious, a femme fatale and lady in red, all packed intoone neat package. Bens edit takes away those amazeing wrestler shoulders, and gives her a sense of vulnerability (probably false.. you looks venomous!). The rose is a nice symbol, it suits perfectly. A'nd I wouldn't worry too much about those eyes, they look fine to me. Ã, :=

Ok, here's some changes in line with your suggestions:

I had a quick look but couldn't find any good reference pics. But I did this from guess and I'm happier with the second version... thought I'd put the first version up to see what you think.

If anyone knows how the folds in the cloth should be shaded properly, I'd be grateful for a guide.

There is no golden rule on how fabric is folded and should be shaded. You are best of using a reference and go by it. The new version, to the right, looks really good. The highlight on the left is a bit awkward.
