Title: First background, perspective problem...
Post by: voh on Wed 18/01/2006 01:03:19

My problem is this. While it looks good as it is, I need a shot after the room this is used for that shows the wall from a farther viewpoint, but the same angle. If I move the angle backwards, and want to extend the room, the perspective of the shelving unit as well as whatever else I would want to place along that wall is seriously whack.

I'm pretty new to all this stuff, and though I know what I want to do, I need some help in fixing the perspective of this thing... As I'm pretty much stumped as it is.

Please? :P

Could you post your try at the second shot?
I assume you did something like pasting a 50% version of the first one into a blank bg, then tried to draw around it.
I did this myself, but couldn't see any whacky lines.

Er, I'm confused. Where's the floor?

Please explain a bit further what you're trying to do.

This is very rough, but I think it's what you're thinking of:

Like khrismuc I don't see anything particularly whacky about the shelves, they could just do with a little tweaking.

By the way, a Diagnosis Murder game is genius.

That is indeed almost exactly what I had, but somewhere while checking perspective I got 45 degree shelves. So I got thoroughly confused, and posted here to get some insight from people who aren't as baindead as I am, and decided to call it a night.

Thanks for the guideline, now I see what I've been doing wrong :)

That's what I've got so far. The perspective is probably still wrong in places, but at least it looks good :)

Any C&C on this background?

The antennae of the TV sticking out looks rather... er... odd to me.

What's the black spot on the left of the door? Is it a hanging hook or something?

Indeed, there's a towel object that goes on there :)

Looking excellent for a place of murder.. especially because of the good view from the bellow.. (symbolic from the eyes of the victim).. keep up the good work!

This is not for the Diagnosis Murder game, this is for a game that I've wanted to do for 2 years, a remake of an old school project :)
