Hello all, I started this game about some time ago, made the characters kinda pixeling (with MSPaint), and the background with smooth lines (Photoshop), now I made this game at a high resolution, 640x400, but it doesn't look well at fullscreen.. My backgrounds arent very detailed, opposite tbh, they are quite simple, a cartoony, simple way.. way i like it.. I just ain't sure about some things;

-Which resolution should i choose (I dont use much details)
-Should I do smoothened lines or should i do pixelating
Ã,  << dont tell me it's my own choise, i just mean like what looks better.. cause the smoothened lines look very ugly in fullscreen, and very beautiful in windowed mode..
-About you ladies and gent's games: U use fullscreen for eventual game or windowed?

Help me out please..
appreciated!

Could you please post example screenshots? Otherwise 1) It's rather difficult to tell which resolution would fit your art style and 2) This doesn't belong in the Critics Lounge. If your characters are in a different style from the backgrounds you might want to include them in the screenshot as well.

Actually, it really is your choice. Everyone is going to pick something different. Personally, I prefer very simplex 320x200, but if you can pull off 640X400 then go for it. But if you're going to 6X4 then you'll probably need to redo the backgrounds. All up to you. But if you post some screenshots, we can help in the decision making process.

You have already asked this question in the Beginner's forum, so unless you have some images to compare I will remove this thread in a day or two.

==================
As you can see out of these screenshots, the characters are pixelated, the background is like smoothened out in photoshop, which results in ugly on fullscreen, and smooth on windowed like above here..

Try this picture out at fullscreen to see how ugly it becomes (perhaps you already thought it is ugly.. then it becomes even uglierÃ,  ;D)

Im thinking of remaking the background non-smoothened pixaleting tho.. perhaps thats better.. and then do it 320x200.. cause 320x200 is for the simple graphic games right? or am I wrong in that

By the way; Why should this question dont fit in the Critism forum.. I ask critism from you guys about what resolution should be best..

Krysis

Personally, I think, resolution should be the least of your worries. Why not try some perspective, shading and perhapse using pictures as reference? Anyway, that's just my opinion.

Thanks a lot for the advice.. but I like it this cartoony, odd perspective way..
You are right that I could use some more perspective in it tho..

>> about shadows; yeh would be nice.. but I just ain't got the skills for that..

Anyway, let's keep it ontopic

Well, you've answered the question yourself. What you ask from us is an opinion.
You wouldn't call it criticism if someone had asked us whether snickers or nuts was the yummier candy bar.

Btt: I'd redraw the bgs in 320x240, using anti-alias. Apart from the writing on the cursors, there's no need to use a higher res.
The second background, redrawn and at fullscreen, would look like this.

DonB

Lol,

well thanks a lot for the efford of making me a redraw, only I don't like it too much, it's way too plain, will change that..

anyway
.. as always.. appreciated! Thanks all..
