Heres a repaint I did of the Maniac Mansion Kitchen for my game Maniac Mansion The New Saga.

Well I don't really have anything constructive to say. But I do really like your paintover it still keeps a nice lucasarts feel about it.
Kind of long, don't you think? Looks alright. Stove perspective is off. Microwave is too detailed compared to everything else. Doors, fridge, stove, phone, floor board all look very cool, but don't match the counters and the cabinets. Backsplash/tile looks the most misplaced.
Really nice, one of your best so far- it keeps within the old style and still adds a little to it. Crits would be nitpicking... the perspective *is* off in places, but heck, it doesn't tear my eyes out, and we've seen much worse.
I think the jars on the microwave are a nice touch, and the palette's okay too. Maybe make the whole board section a shade lighter, just to get rid of the extreme contrast.
Thank you for all the posts. Here is a Fix on the background.

Lighted the cabinets, Lighted the titles, fixed window, got rid of shelf, redone the blender, fixed the stove, lighted borders a bit, fixed the microwave.
Thank you for the help.
All so heres some shot in game. Cuz its hard to see some of the details. Like the tiles. Still kinda hard to see

I like your sprite very much, although I would like to see a screenshot of the original screen so I could compare.
However I do ponder that maybe the character art looks a little out of place ingame. The background looks very realistic, maybe "sterile" is a way of describing it, while the character remind me of a caricature. Did the original also do this? I've barely tried it...
There's also something weird going on with the top of the doors, but I can't quite put my finger on it. Perhaps it's the perspective.
Overall it's a nice, clean looking sprite, so good job to you sir!
Its not my Sprite its from the Deluxe Maniac Mansion Version.
Here the original Background.

Here's a short clip (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1oE8PhNMjqM) from the original (NES) version featuring both the kitchen and (for a couple of seconds) Ed.
Working on fxing the stove some more. I added Depth to it but the angle is not right. Plus modding other things allso
Right now I'm not in the mood for any further analysis, but frankly I don't understand the thing about the stove. I think that background is so wide that perspective can be easily (and in the matter of fact should) cheated. So I don't think the perspective on the stove is off, on the contrary, I think the stove on your first background is better than in the edit. The main reason is that in the edit you have a straight vertical line of the same color on the left of the stove, that does not make sense.
Furthermore, I would like to ask you if there is a reason you have increased the width of the room, I mean there is a "empty" space in the middle of the picture (on the left side of the bigger window) that is as wide as the window but does not seem to hold anything of interest. Ofcourse if there is a kind of a pixel hunt puzzle going on with the cabinets and you really need that extra space, then it makes sense, but otherwise it does not.
Since you've dithed the gradient style from the walls, the fridge and cabinets, maybe you should ditch it from the doors and floor also? I don't know if it would look better, but you could try some different approaches to that and see if it would make the background look more whole? This does relative to how you changed the microwave window from gradient shaded to more simple one, think about that.
THis is a new version. Added wallpaper , made window bigger, recolored a lot of stuff, fix the blender, made the stove the way it was before, worked on the counter and cabs, fixed the doors.
