hey all, havent posted in here in a while so i thought i's put this up and ask for opinions. I found this a particularly tough toom to draw because i was restricted to a certain layout, and certain objects had to go in certainplaces etc. I really wanted to capture a cosy mood with the lighting too. Let me know what you all thnk. It's still rough and there are details to be added etc. Opinions and crits welcome.:

P.S: ive just noticed the top of the TV is a bit pissed perspective wise, so ill sort that for uture edits lol. :)

The only thing that seems odd to me are the sizes of the different objects in relation to each other.  Even taking perspective into account, the fireplace seems dreadfully tiny.  The other issue I'd wonder about is the size of your sprites, the door itself is rather large, looks about 150-160 pixels tall I'd guess.  Are you planning on making the characters that big?  I like the room layout and the colors so far!

Wonderful as always. If you want a cozier room, I would move the globe to the bottom left foreground and put a floor or reading lamp in it's place. The teaser curtain (top of image) is a bit distracting.  Fireplace is quite small, and I'm not entirely sure about the secion of wall that sticks out.  I dig the mood the lamp colors set. Very... Africa themeish?

The colours and the general style are gorgeous, Dan!

There is indeed something wrong with the way objects are placed and scaled, though, which makes it look warped perspective-wise.

The fireplace is seen straight-on, from the same level. The tv-set is however seen highly from above. The comfy-chair and the right wall appear to be slanting. I understand the perspective is made a bit curved and skewed for a dynamic and organic effect, but there is something slightly weird about it.

Apart from that, it's a beautiful background.

Thanks very much or the feedback all, you've spotted some things i wouldnt have. I did drop my sprite in just for proportion and scale etc, but youre right in that the fireplace is too small (the extrusion in the wall is where the chimney breast is situated, we used to have a house with one just like that, and i've seen a few around),and the door is a little too big. The globe has to stay put im afraid, as it freatures within the plot ;). I'll be toning down the whole 'warped look' for the actual BG, and ill take into account all of the comments!  :)

Speaking of the globe, I think the light on the globe would be like that on a 3/4 full moon. The way you have it (1/4) looks like the TV is several feet back from where it is, behind the globe.
