Fox main character for crits

Iv been planning some short games called "The Secret Tales Of the Forest" Kind of a Whinne the Pooh setting but looks at the darkside of the forest kind of thing. Anyway this would be the main character a Fox, from the city but after his uncle dieing he inherets his cotage in the forest which makes him reveal the secert life of his old quiet uncle Willaim.

Very cute, and this is a great idea for a game.
I think i wouldn't change anything, but i'd like to see it animated,really, nice art!

I can see that there are different colored outlines, but they are very similar colors.

I would suggest making a little more contrast between the fills and the outlines.  He looks rather muddled together as is.

I like the character and the game idea sounds pretty interesting.

A great sprite you have there. I made a small paintover, hope you don't mind.
Here's what I did:
-added more contrast between different levels of shades,
-added some highlights,
-made darker tones more blue, and highlights more yellow

Color count: 11 colors + transparency. The edit was made in mspaint.

My main issue is that it doesn't look like a fox to me facially.  The problem is that I'm not very good at drawing animals, so my edit probably won't help much.

1.  I redrew the face from this reference: http://www.ferenzi.com/maddie/misc/image/oldpictures/fox.jpg while keeping it cartoony and larger than the body.
2.  I altered shading of the body to use more contrast

Setsuna Im happy that you like my sprite and you think it is perfect as it stands but personally I tought it could have some more into (thats why I posted it)
Darth yes I see your view, actually I wanted it to be like that but when it was posted it does look too as you say muddled.
Damien Thank you for your paint over, its very nice and I like the colours but i feel it has taken away the cartoon quality of the sprite but it is still a nice sprite!
Prog Once again thank you for that great panit over!(Reminds me of a sonic char actually)I understand where you are coming from and will update the sprite with more contrast and make more of a fox's features. Also that colour is much better than the orange I was using.

well i was going to update my sprite before I went on holiday but I forgot so keep watching this space for a week or two lol
