I have this room that I started . I found something like it on line and  kind of copyed it here and there and made most of it the way I  wanted it but I don't know how you do that glass look ?
I have a case in the front for pawn stuff and how would you make it look like glass ?

What I have so far ..

With your style you should look at old cartoons for inspiration.  I'd suggest using teal or sky blue lines with a lighter version of the color "behind" the glass.
That's like looking through a microscope at a bacterial culture and seeing a THOUSAND DANCING HAMSTERS!

Thank you for the hint . I think I have something going but  will  look at them too ..

Candle

How is this ?  I had to redo it as it just didn't look right with the EGO in the room .

Andail

No! Keep the previous version, it was much better.

The new one has a less interesting composition, and it shows way too much ceiling! You can always scale up your character to make it fit better.

As for the glass; it's hard to give precise advice on this matter, as glass will look different depending on the environment, the immediate surroundings and on the style of the picture. You'll have to experiment, and show us the result.
Good luck!

Rincewind

It looks nice, but as Andail said, there's too much ceiling in the last one - It just takes up a lot of space.  Also, shouldn't the computer screen be turned in the other direction, or am I being horribly stupid here?

Otherwise I don't know what to say, since I'm not very good at doing glass either, but I do know that the KISS-poster kicks ass... :)
You got both the logo and Ace himself spot on... (Might wanna work on the Les Paul a bit, though... Hehe...)

Very good on the whole, though. You're off to a good start.

Well, there's a tutorial by InCreator (let me see if I can find it) which shows two window styles that may fit.
Also, I prefer the first image, and you could make it scrolling to show the same amunt of content (objects and such) as the second. the angles on the first just give off a better atmosphere, dunno. The computer has some anti-aliased stuff that looks odd to me, and the shelf needs color. the window looks better on the second image (the inside part, the blue outside is nice).
On the first picture, the Kiss poster straight for our eyes, but not on the wall, and that looks odd, I'd turn it or move a bit further from the edge of the wall (I like that it isn't straight ;)).
The two doors are both nice.
The second image is too blurry Imo.
Anyway, keep up the good work :)

This is my third room so still learning and with your guys help I will learn how to do this .. lol
When I added the first room he look like a little kid in the room so thats why I redid the room now he is looking ok in the room . Still learning on how to do the size so it all matches  .   but I will learn some day . lol
Thank you for taking time out from your game to help me , I'm off to the dentist .. yuck ......

Ginny

D'oh! I didn't notice you're the same one who posted there ;)
Something that may look good:
Make the circle in the first pic lighter, and put around it some more rings which would be darker each time. I dunno if this will do good or not, just strucl me as something to try.

Due to the design of the rest of your picture, I would stay you should probably darken the color of the actual case and do some overlays with a slightly lighter color:

Example:

As you can see the diffrence beteen the top and the bottom.

Also .. just so you know the horizon line is off in the first picture on the bookshelf.

I'm sorry but I'm new to this stuff could you should me a tut on doing overlays ?
That would help me a lot .
Thanks ..
I did a search on google but so far nothing on that  for art .

Mari

By overlay I just ment like put a lighter color over everything else.  Or just make white semi transparent objects over the stuff in the case.

What Pait Program do you use?  I usually use Photoshop.

Candle

I have been using Photoshop , psp and Gale to get to this point .  I only have a mouse  so i can't draw great and all this fill and  overlays stuff is new to me .

Ok, Start with your Bookshelf.  (make sure you change the color so it's not white or this won't work.  If the shelf is white .. change the color to light grey)

Create a new layer and draw white slanted squares OR if you want to get a little more artistic, try for some reflective patterns. (See the bottom shelf)

Change that layer to 40 to 50% and VOILA! Glass!

If you want to play around with it a little more you may want to try and create a few layers with diffrent transparency lvls.

Play around with the size of the squares.  It  looks better if you have more space in between squares, but frankly I didn't feel like spening too much time on this trying to get it "just right".  But I hope this helps!

Candle

Wow thank you so much ,, that is really cool of you to do ..
I will try that and see if I can manage it ..
I looked at some of your work and I must say it is fantastic !

You have to use the correct height and width attributes to display it correctly:

[ img width=640 height=400]http://12.22.230.41/MicroTech/Hosted/Files-A/pawn2door_open.png[/img]

IMO the reflections should be more irregular and extent all the way to the edges where the glass ends, not just be concentrated in the middle.
Good job! I particularly like the floor.

Mari

Yea you probably want to make a few of the squares narrow and some wider and have them come closer to the top.  See my fist picture.  The 2nd was very uniform cause I did it real quickly.

Candle

I think I will let them be as I have to change two rooms again and want to move on ..
But thank you for your help .
