South Park!
Man, you must've been bored!!!
Well, at least it's not Family Guy :D
Nice work Wayne, an interesting take making the south park characters more human.
Seriously I reckon you were onto something here. Send it to the producers and say hey... Time to do a live action southpark.
(they may totally ignore you of course, but it can't hurt...)
I just love Kenny here :*
Yeah me too!
Heh, I was just watching South Park a while ago. I love Cartman's and Stan's postures but Kenny's legs and feet look a bit flat and stiff. There also seems to be something wrong with Kyle's arms but I can't quite put my finger on it.
Those little details aside, I love it!
I can't believe nobody has pointed out yet that you made Eric thin.
Looking awesome!

Is he naked in South Park then? :o
No, but in SP his clothes are more humble than this one ;) This look expensive :o
I bet he's got a very durable coat, not to mention a very durable/self-resurrecting body.

Why is this in the critic's lounge?

This is just a random idea off the top of my head but if I had to take a wild guess I'd say it's because he made a picture and wants critics and comments on it. I know it sounds absurd, since people NEVER post their drawings in this part of the forums.
It doesn't feel like he's wanting a critic, I don't really mind him posting and I would mind if I was acting like a mod- :-X.
Shit, sorry for this. :D :D
Actually this was originally in the General forum and I felt it's suitable as the original poster did not mention whether he wanted C+C on it. It was Andail who moved it here. Nothing to blame though, as the author didn't seem to mind getting some C+C here.

My point was that he wasn't asking and or recieving any. :D
The thing is, saying something is good is criticism too. Criticism doesn't just have to be picking flaws, though Pablo mentioned a few of those earlier.
Just go with the flow... If the mods don't like something my guess (despite the fact I am new) is that it will be moved or removed.
LOL This is exactly why I posted it in General discussion... hahahahahaha
I just got bored and drew it.. its certainly no masterpiece, and I just thought it was funny...
...the stuff we do out of boredom...
But if you guys post feedback, I'll still read it ;)

Compare the width of his body to Kenny's in the picture. Then do the same with a still from the series.
Yes but it's a moot point, considering the intent was obviously to draw a more realistic version of the characters. A realistic person drawn with the proportions of the cartoon-cartman would snap at the knees or be unable to stand without a scaffold...
I'm gonna drop this now because I really don't think it's worth arguing about but it just doesn't look right when, in the original, a character is at least twice as big as the others (in terms of "body width") and in an inspired piece, he has the same body dimensions (even though a little belly is suggested vaguely). Of course, there are cartoon dimensions and there are real life dimensions but it is in fact fully possible to draw really fat people in real life style - if "the cartoon-cartman would snap at the knees" then make his legs bigger - like in real life fat people have big legs to stand on.
I really like the piece though, great technique and love the details and everything, best drawing of the four guys I have ever seen.
You're gonna drop it but you're gonna make a final point. That's basically a shut-up-here's-what-I-think-don't-disagree-because-I-can't-be-bothered. You could just say as much and be honest.
Anyway you make some good points. And I completely agree with this being the best drawing of the four guys I have ever seen. Seriously this is an awesome pic.
I find the thinner Cartman much easier to relate to. That was one of my first impressions was, hey, Cartman isn't this fucking fat cunt, he's a real person. I had a mate at school who was large, we used to hang around and call him a stupid fat ball of lard with his own gravitational field, and draw Cartman-esque pictures of him... uh, I think he was a mate. We used to hang out after school and play Star Control melee. But he was more like this picture here than the morbidly obese cartoons we'd draw.
Which is why I can relate to this Cartman more... I think he's just more human, less of a fat freak and more of a person with a slight weight advantage who people just take the piss out of.
But I'm gonna drop it you know because mumble mumble something ok I hate you.
not really. Disagreement is the mother of all understandings.
Alex, I'm not sure why you're arguing with dkh about something you didn't even draw. Could you save that sort of banter for private messages, please? I'm sure if Wayne has anything to say about dkh's critique he will, so let's not clutter up the thread with personal arguments.
The only reason Kenny looks bigger than Cartman is because poor people tend to buy big sizes when it comes to coats and such, especially for growing boys.. so it lasts longer.. in the picture kenny's head is waaayy bigger than all of them, but thats not his skull taking up all the space is it? No.. it's his oversized parka that better last him a long time.. cause dads gotta keep himself in scotch and ain't got time to buy kenny another coat..
anyways.. In the end it's a doodle. and yeah.. it's why i originally posted it in gen discussion..
but i'm glad you guys are talkin about it.. I only hope you guys give me such a detailed critique on The Wanderer once more media, and eventually a demo come out..
:)
I like the justification to go with it too :)
I never really thought that deeply about southpark before, thanks for sharing your work Wayne.
Sometimes I think the forums act like riots. People shouting and if one asks why are we shouting for, no one will know the answer.
No on-topic, to justify my position on the matter, for the 3rd time, initially the author had a title saying "Got bored", the title didn't suggest he wanted critic but suggested someone had moved the thread here. The first posts on the thread were "At least it wasn't family guy", "A south park picture?", suggesting none was actually realizing this was on Critic's lounge. I wasn't acting as a moderator or do not wish ever to become one. I was just pointing this out wondering of the situation.
It's all good - people get over things.
