Please tell me what you think:

That's not DOTT style.
The door is too small, and the right wall should be the brightest.

Replicating DOTT's style is very hard, especially because the perspective is still there. Yours doesn't have any.
And the room's lines shouldn't end in the corners of the pic, it looks too static that way.

I like the style, tho it's not like DOTT, but you don't need to copy style to do good BGs. I think it's better for you to "create" your own style.

Try adding more things (it looks kind of empty) and correcting the persepective.

Hope this helps ^^.

Yeah its a good start but if you wanna do dott-like you should propably first do the room as a realistic and then start modifying it to a dott-like room.

(No idea how much bandwidth that site is going to hold btw ^ )

But from there you can see how the room is still "realistic" with the scaling of the objects, its like they are just very bendy and beweled orsomething.
I do music and visual effects:

Please don't try to imitate DOTT-style until you have practised a whole darn lot on an ordinary, realistic style.
Secondly, don't ever say that you have done a background in DOTT-style. If you have indeed succeeded in doing so, people will point that out for you. If not, people will just get annoyed.

As for your background: Well, it simply lacks a decent perspective. It's just whacky in a non-consistent, non-appealing way. Also, it lacks details and interesting objects.
