Title: GUI icon help

I was wondering if anyone could help me out with this icon that's to be one of the ones for my GUI. It's more or less the inventory icon, and is supposed to represent an ass pocket of a pair of pants. My own mother is able to tell what the other icons I made are at a glance, but this one had her stumped.

And it's done by using different opacities of these two colours.

Any suggestions or repaints you have that might make it look more pocket-like are welcome. Keep in mind that I want to stick to using those two base colours at different opacities.

(oh, and it's supposed to be a guy's pocket, if it makes any difference)

EDIT: My GOD I make a lot of spelling/ typing mistakes late at night. I think I fixed most of 'em.

I'm not home so I cannot make a crappy paint-over.
Try drawing the part in the left that misses of the pants, I think this will give an idea of a more big thing and will help seeing what the hell is that... ^^.
Btw, it's very well done and I like the style. May we see the rest of the icons?

I still have a lot of work to do on the hand, and I might go for a larger "boot" picture instead of the walking legs. That, and I'm not done yet (hopefuly I'll be satisfied with something before the end of the month comes).

I'll see what I can do about extending the ass (now THERE'S a sentence you're not likley to hear everyday!). Last time I tried, it looked, well, less like a butt than it should have, though.

What a strange hand gesture, looks like when someone is looking at their nails. I assume it's supposed to be a fist, perhaps you should study your own hand and see how a fist is held?

I kid. Thanks for that -- Though I know I stink at drawing hands, I think I'll cross the thumb over the fingers to make it more "fist"-like and less "looking at your nails"-like.

(Oh, and as an asside, save for .bmp, what's the best file format to save under in order to preserve colours exactly? I thought gif would do it, but it doesn't seem to for me. And png darkens things...)

I think the pocket is fine. By itself its a little hard to see but when it was next to the others I knew right away.

As for the fist, forshorten the finger tips, bring the knuckles in, and lengthen the thumb. I don't think putting the thumb over the fingers is necessary. Lengthing it will make it look more like it's holding something rather then getting ready to punch something.

I'm still open to suggestions for the pocket/ inventory icon, though, if people (besides Evil) think it might be confusing.

A friend of mine said: "To me, it looks like a shield with hair.  Maybe it could be the makeover button?  Send me a bigger pic, & i'll try again."  ;D

So IS the pocket icon easily recognizable in your opinion? And if not, do you have any suggestions on how I might fix it (or change it altogether)?

EDIT: Cripes, someone should TOTALLY make a game that makes use of a makeover GUI button/ option. That'd be freakin' hilarious.

Maybe it'd help if you showed both pockets....well, then that would basically be drawing the whole butt. Maybe the side pocket on the pants would be more recognizable.

Save them as .png as it has rougly the same size as gif, and it has minimal to no quality loss on images of 256 colours or less. ;)

I dunno... that looks more like PUNCH instead of a general interact....

As for the butt pocket inventory, maybe you should use something more traditional, like a bag, a backpack, or a bux full of junk....

I do get the inventory icon. Your friend hits on an interesting interpretation, however. The shape of the pocket IS shield-like and, subsequently, not as pocket-like as it needs to be.
