(http://www.2dadventure.com/ags/hammy.png) some weird hamster sprite i drew. Im not sure about how he is sitting, what do you think? any other crit welcome.
(http://www.2dadventure.com/ags/hammy.png) paint overs also welcome.
He looks a bit like a rat in that picture, moreso than a hamster... It's still really good though :) just not quite capturing the hamsterness of hamsters :D
Hamsters have tiny, stumpy little 'arms'... his are more like those of a rabbit. They also have rounder faces... and are rounder in general... lemme show...
Hamsters also tend to hold their hands... almost clasped in a prayer-like position, close to their noses... when they are on their back legs looking up, as you have drawn yours. I don't think I've ever seen a hamster hold their hands limply... that's more of a cartoon bunny thing...

Good Lord. That photo is unbearably cute! :D
Is it? It looks remarkabley villianous to me.
Your hamster also looks very...horizontal. Not sure if it's on purpose, but it makes it look funny.

The top picture, with the gun! The bottom one definately has a super-villain look to it (just needs a cape and a top hat, and possibly a monocle).
Anyway, back on topic... er... yeah, think the sprite just needs to be squidged vertically down a bit so it's not so tall and thin. But it's a funky style :D
Binky
Sorry, I didn't put an awful lot of effort into this but here's an example

compared to

Hamsters also have big black eyes and always look a bit gormless... anyway my edit is far from perfect (also I fucked up saving the file so now it's poopy!) but it gives you some kind of example hopefully... although my hamste rlooks more like a plucked chicken ¬¬
ta very muchley for all your advice so far people.thanks for the edit yutzster, very helpful.
Ill edit and post my hamster at some point in the near future.

Lookie at my new edits. ;D
Crit me
Hello!
I prefer your first chubbier edit to the second - it's much cuter! I think that may have something to do with the eyes - the 'V' shaped pixel pattern in the second edit looks a bit weird to me. Top stuff though - mucho better than the original! Woop! Oh - and I like the first edit's widdle footsies, awwww!
Cap'n Binky
here is my turn on it:
I gave his arms and legs some more feature to make his whole body more puffy looking.
thanks for the advice you two, I think you are right about the eyes binky and I have a chubbier version that I will post soon.that is an awesome edit mad, I will post my improved hamster here soon, keep checking this subject.
this version looks the best IMO. Why change it?

bucket head, his legs just look really strange to me, maybe I'm just looking at it funny, I think that mad's edit is the best so far personally.Im keeping both versions anyhoo.
