LGM

What is this for? What are we critquing? Did you make this in a modeler, or is it a morphed Poser model?

Mind explaining yourself??

It is rather good if you modeled it yourself. Well done. Although she need actuall nipples, not just points. Other than that, she looks rather real.. Except her face is kinda cartoonish and dowsn't match the realism of her body.

That's just my opinion, though
You. Me. Denny's.

I second what LGM said. Its good but theres a lot of mixing between realism and cartoony. A nudity warning should be in your thread title by the way.

MrColossal

hey there, first suggestion, i recommend adding a "nudity" to your subject to stop people from clicking when they don't really want to view a nude 3d woman [like at work]

secondly:

the proportions are pretty good except for a few things, the feet are too long I think and the shoulders could be dropped a bit, the butt is quite saggy and could use a little lift [not cause "Women should have firm butts!" but because the butt you have now looks awkward] the butt crack could be shortened a touch and the hands look long but they probably aren't so pay no mind to that arrow at the hands. the other lines are just me matching up to see if they align with each other. The ankles could be slimmer also on both the front and back views.

also, on the image of the extreme close up of her vagina, it looks like there's a nasty seam right above her vagina. the fingers look fat and need nails [obviously] the stretched tendons are neat but the fingers are too fat to make them look right, skinny little fingers will balance that out i feel.

her face needs work and i can't offer any help on that front... I hate doing faces... Her ear could be lowered a tad I think.

Otherwise if you modeled this yourself then woop! Good work.

I modelled this myself.  18,058 vertexes painfully adjusted by hand.  I modelled the head a few weeks ago and I just built the rest of it over the last two days.  This is actually the first model I've made, and I'm rather pleased with myself...but I'm not done yet.  I am learning as I go.  Of course I need to skin her and then I plan to make her fully animated.  I may work this into my game, but I am mainly doing it as a learning experience because I wanted to have done it once before I start on the main character, since you'll be seeing a lot of him on the screen.

Ok, there's a reason why the head looks cartoony...when I started, I was modelling from a hand-drawn cartoon...then I realized I wanted to make it more realistic, so I threw out my referance pics and started modelling it from my head.  But I guess the head ended up looking less than real that way.  The rest of the body I modelled from an actual woman's body.  I DON'T want the finished product to look cartoony.  Ok, so I will definitely completely re-do the head...the girl I am modelling is pretty cute, so it won't be SUCH a drag :P

In fact, the body I used for referance was photographed by the same woman who photographed the young nude you are using to compare my model.  Not all people are proportioned exactly the same, though.  I had to use separate referances for the hands and feet so it is very possible that they have dimensional problems..thanks for pointing that out.

I agree the foot does look a bit long...and mannish...I was looking a my own foot, because the referance I have is quite blurry...I'll take another go at that in time.  I'm surprised you found the fingers too fat...I thought they looked skinny.

Here's the referance I am using for the body:

im trying to sound professional here but her ass is a bit saggy, could do with perking up a bit and making a bit smaller.

I say: The HAND is detailed enough... and the thumb. But the fingers aren't. Notice that you have a nail on the thumb, but not on the other fingers. And yes. She has a large arse. Her nose seemse to be floating over the face at the nostrils. Overall: B-

EDIT:
Take a look at her arms in the second image. They look like something out of Terminator 2

Chicky

i could moan, about how you are drawing naked woman, and why didnt you just put clothes on her. And how all theses bits are wrong, but not specify what. Like you did to me.

But i wont, its not my style. I think the overall image is good, but i think the face needs work. The hair especially needs to look like it has more strands, not looking all smooth.

I think the chest is much too small, im not saying they need to be oversized but at te moment they look more like man breasts than female.

all my other points have been covered,

Hands. Work with these hands. Even on reference pics hands don't look like pair of blades. Otherwise, damn nice modelling. Really hard to believe that It's your first. Or is it just first one released to publicity? :D

Well, I gotta be honest...it's a bit depressing to sink close to 100 hours into this and then get a B- grade on it.  I was kinda fishing for some encouragement to keep me going, but that's ok...criticisms are good too.

A lot of you are sayin I need more detail in the hand and fingers...I think this comes from a misunderstanding of the modelling process.  I don't plan on adding another 500 polygons just to add cuticles and wrinkles in the fingers and toes...I would add small details like that with the texture map.

Also, some of you commented that the breasts were too small and looked like man breasts.  Please, could I have the phone number of this guy, because I would like to take him out for a date.  Ok ok I'm kidding.  I thank you for your comment but I have to disagree.  The breasts are the exact same dimension as the girl I was modelling...I think maybe it was the lighting that made them look small.  I have changed the lighting around, and put on a texture map...do they look bigger now?  They're the same size.

In regards to the terminator hands: this is definitely a misunderstanding of the procedure.  After modellign the girl, after texturing her, I need to build a bone structure underneath and each bone needs to be assigned which vertexes it will be in charge of moving when the bone moves.  By making the hand in this shape it is easier to put the bones in and assign which parts of the skin they get control of....and once I have bones in, I can animate her and put her hands in any position I want.

Anyway....I KNOW this texture is not perfect.  I know there are a lot of seams which appeared and I need to smooth those out...and it's symmetrical and it could use more detail...but I think it shows how with a good texture it might not look so cartoony after all?  I think the hair greatly contributed to the cartoonish look...but the thing is, to get the hair to look good, I need to buy a $500 plugin :(

Ah well....I think I am going to go back to modelling rooms for my game :)

Oh, and OSC: way to not stoop to my level  ;D

MrColossal

fingernails: if you're adding the folds of the labia to her vagina i think adding fingernails isn't that much of a big thing to suggest. Plus, just by extruding a little you can get nice fingernails like in this little guy I made:

obviously these are cartoony hands but just a little extruding on the fingernails and woop! she can scratch

eyebrows always help bring the face together i find... also the lighting is much better this time around, what are you using to model again? I'd like to see it with skylight or even better lighting cause i think then the nose problems people have will go away also. Maybe a light that casts a slight shadow?

otherwise good work and she looks much better in this current render

ah yes...I didn't think of that easy method for creating the fingernails.  I'll do that.  I find it hilarious that you like the lighting so much better this time around...guess what I did?  turned off 3 point lighting and let the default render light do the work, haha.  i guess I did have the intensity turned up a bit high before.  I'll post an update in a bit when i get around to the fingers.

by the way colossal, what method do you use to model the hair?  the best thing i've got going for me right now that I can think of is to model it as a solid object, try to add some creases, and slap a hair-ish texture on it...but i have not done that because i know it will turn out aweful.  And I only found 1 free hair plugin for 3ds max 6...and it looks pretty crappy...and I definitely cant spend $500 to buy Shag: Hair.

MrColossal

I've never done hair, I'm still a newb when it comes to a lot of 3d stuff

hair is annoying because even when you use shag it doesn't look good, it's all to uniform and such. I'd choose a hairstyle that would look good as a solid mesh and then i'd add strands and or planes with alpha mapped hair on it... but that's what i'd do in theory.. i can't help you either way since i've never done...

good luck

here's an update.  i tried to work on putting detail into the fingers.  i know that the finger joints and nails still look unnatural despite my efforts to detail them...but it's better than before.  i have a REAL texture on there now, hand drawn in photoshop.  it's still got a ways to go, though.
