Here are some docks that the ship (See Darksiders thread in Production forum) drops you off in, I really need some criticisms on the lighting and the lake of fire seen in the background please..

Oh and if you're wondering why its on a sort of slant, The underworld is a very twisted place.
Very beautiful lighting and I love the textures.
Really, I tihnk the wood repeats too much...
I've darkened it and it doesn't repeat so clearly:

I also added some texture to the tops of the biuldings, my friend Tom pointed out the texture repeating too strongly.
cant see the wood anymore
That 'docks' sign looks like it's at the wrong place, since it's
standing on the edge of the dock. The sign should stand on
the screen to the left of this one, where you can't se the docks,
and say 'To the docks' och just 'Docks' and an arrow. Now it
gives me a feeling ofÃ, "Oh, what is this big water-filled basin with
a framework of wood aroud it? There's a sign.. Oh, it's a dock..."
If you see what I mean...
And I think you should change the name of the tavern to "Whore 'n' Sailor"
That's a more suitable name for a bar in a harbour...
I think it looks pretty good over all.
Normally I would have said "get rid of the light filters and the textures", but this background has some The-journey-home atmosphere to it, which I enjoy.
But if you want to really improve it; let go off all textures and filters.
Also, since the houses are pretty askew and tilted, I think you should have made the edges more curved. At least not this straight. The line tool is only recommended if you want to achieve death-serious perspective :)
Otherwise, really promising!
Hehe, Andail, it sure has the awesome 'The Journey Home atmosphere' in it, and I like it too.
I think the textures don't look too bad... But the bottom right corner looks empty. Add some barrels and/or crates or something like that in there. Or maybe some black foreground objects?
Whore n Sailor?? Nah, this IS hell after all, did make me laugh though, but as theres just the one ship coming to the netherworld there aren't alot of sailors.
As for the "Crooked buidings" I'll try it, as well as making the bottom right corner more interesting, I'll put some in.
Very nice, i like your style althought i think the wood texture is ugly (i don't like textures in general )
I also love the ones you made and posted in "games in prod" and wish you'll finish your game soon so we can enjoy it!
Hohoho, finish soon, thats rich, I am aiming for a full length game, but I'll try to get a demo out soon.

I was bored...
I also tried it with no textures, it looked pretty bad...
but I did add a few vertices to some of the buildings
(http://img50.exs.cx/img50/4563/helldocksmod.jpg)
And added an arrow to the sign.

I edited the pixel art version, if your wondering why I did, it:
1. I was bored
2. I want tp make a 320x200 game and wanted to be sure I could get the resolution and perspective right....
Nice Pixel Art!
This space is really empty, work on it, couple of suggestion
*some crates
*some boxes
*couple of sailors in the corner talking
Just a thing that struck my mind: It looks like the houses stands on the wooden dock, and this would be very unrealistic. you might ad a paved/stoned road och something beween the houses and the dock, that shows that the houses stands on 'terra firma' (solid ground)
If you look at the furthest most house on the big version, you can see a bit of stone going down below the dock level, this carrys on under all the houses as a stone foundation, with suppots for the docks attached to these:

My latest work ;D
CnC welcome.........only joking, this is to explain how it works, and no, I dont want this to go spiralling into a debate about building foundations and how they would need to be altered if a lake of fire was introduced..
nothing to do with perspective but just the foreground objects idea to add some depth, and make the dock seem a little less sparse:

sorry the style doesnt match your art, its late so i didnt want to spend too much time on it, but hopefully this will give you an idea of what i mean.
Nice, your right that does look nice. I will try to add something like that in some more of the hell scenes.
