Title: Help with an underground cavern screen at 800x600 resolution
Post by: chapter11studios on Sun 15/04/2007 05:33:03
This is supposed to be an underground cavern in which part of the floor has collapsed, leaving several little islands instead of one long even floor. For the most part I'm happy with how this is coming along, except that I don't really like the way I'm doing the vertical lines/colors here to show depth. Any suggestions?

Well just looking at it, looks fantastic.  Maybe darkening the shadows that might be happening between the islands will separate things more for you?  That's what I'd do, but hey maybe I go over board with extreme darks, I don't know. ^^

The background is a bit light though, for an underground cavern?  Perhaps seeing it against a back that is more appropriate for the cavern would help you see the next step in its evolution?  You got me on this one, but very nice background altogether so far.

I really like these lines and colours to show depth. I say you go with these and finish this fantastic background. And as theRedPress said it should be a bit darker. Also, maybe add some beams of light shining trough some small hole in the ceiling.
