Title: Help with side view
Post by: pslim on Thu 02/08/2007 04:37:50
I've gotten into making the side view of the character I posted earlier, but there's something funny about it that needs fixing. I can't quite work it out, though.

Without the arm it looks all right to me, in terms of the shape of his body, but when I add the arm it makes it look like he's sticking out his chest. That's what particularly concerns me, but any other suggestions are welcome.

Very nice sprite Pslim. The only thing that is bothering me is the darkest shade under his breast. It makes it look as if he had boobs. Maybe something like this?

I assume side view is only used with walking animation, and in that case it doesn't need to be perfect because it only flashes quickly when walk animation ends or starts. Just add a little curve to the brown line, and maybe reduce the thickness a bit.

I agree maybe break the line so it doesn't go straight through, cause it does look like boobs.

That's true with regard to the shading possibly, but if the shapes aren't proper I'm worried that a walk animation based on it might end up being off.

I'm going to go ahead and give it a try, though, taking out the darkest shade in the chest area as suggested.

I had a little play.  Very little actually.

mostly just dropped his arm seemed a little up tight and slightly adjusted the shading.

Beautiful sprite by the way.
