Hello people

I decided to try and make a adventure game based on the Police Quest series, but I'm having trouble with making a decent character, I was actually aiming for a SCI style character like in Police Quest 3, but a Police Quest 2 would do nicely too, however, I happen to totally suck at this, All day long today I've tried to make a police officer character, but every try just didnt come out right. in fact, here's a picture of what my best looking example was..(And that really says something about my lack of skills)

I've also tried to make an animation of a police officer telling a suspect to drop his gun while keeping his hand on the holster and eventually drawing his gun and firing it, and even though I like this animation, you can obviously tell its lacking on the art skill.

I'm talking about this one..
Ã,  Ã,  Ã,  Ã,  Ã,  Ã,  Ã,  Ã,

EDIT: I resized the images so they all had the same size, but this results in a rather weird effect as you can see, (the officer getting fatter)

Anyways,Ã,  I could really use some advice from you folks, since I'm at a dead trail when it comes to character editing.

I also tried looking at the website listed in the tutorial section about how to make good backgrounds and sprites and such, but this site seems to be down at the moment? --> http://user.tninet.se/~vqb114l/ilb/tutorials.htm

Thanks in advance! Let the critisism commence!Ã,  :D

The animation looks nice. However, he does seem to get bigger. Keep him the same size throught the animation and it'll improve it a lot.

Thanks, Its because I made the officer kneel when he was reaching his gun, and I had to make his arms stretch when firing the gun, therefore I had to re-position his body a little, this  made the image bigger which I didnt see at the moment. yet, I do know how to prevent this from happening in the future I think,

MrColossal did a really cool animation of a man shooting a gun a while back, but it was in more of a Pulp Fiction stance.  Someone probably knows where it is...it might be helpful

That's what I made so many months ago

Doesn't really fit a cop however

I'd say take this and retrace it, everything stretches awkwardly, what program are you using?

That's a cool animation MrColossal, It may not be very cop-like, but I could use it for the person firing at the cop himself.

And I only used Jasc Animation Shop to compile the pics together, I did those 11 pics with paint and then threw em into the Animation ship, hence the amateuristic result.

I'd definetly get used to PSP if you have it, or The Gimp, anything with layers, it will help A LOT

You mentioned that you were aiming for an sci style character...

maybe going a bit smaller scale would be a good idea?  I hope this helps.

I've got PSP, I will try doing characters with that programme, altough I may need to learn my way around photoshop a little, (I know how to apply layers though)

Hey thanks, that's a nice looking animation/character, I like the way he positions himself when firing the gun, its like mine animation but way smoother, and unlike mine your character actually has an expression in his face! cool, thanks for the help.
