Title: Hey, a character.

Here's a character. Before everyone attacks me for stealing it, I'll just mention that I used the guy from Automation as a reference for proportions and stuff, it's not just a paintover/traceover, okay?

Now here are things I'd like some comments on.
- The colours. He is supposed to wear futuristic clothes. Does it look like he does, though? Actually, I'd rather go for... more washed out colours/less saturated colours, but I didn't succeed. Paintovers are welcome.
- Shading. On the shirt, mainly, but overall. Is it any good?
- Anything else you might spot.

Thanks.

Looks good, I really think you got a good character going on there... but I always attach more value to the front view.. can you make that one and post it here as well?

EDIT: attack = attachÃ,  ::)

This guy looks really cool!

Sorry, but I'd never guess his clothes were futuristic. They rather look a bit strange since his sleeve has a different color than his shirt. And he looks like he's wearing slippersÃ,  ;)

Futuristic clothes... hm, that's an uneasy task. I don't know, you need some extraordinary cut, material, decorations. (Neon rings?... Just kiddingÃ,  ;D)

I added two different versions of the front view, one with HUGE arms and one with smaller arms. But I don't think it matches the side view that well... umm, help?

seaduck, good point about the shoes. They are supposed to be kind of... futuristic shoes that are meant to be used indoors, but definately not slippers. Any ideas? :P

And about the clothes... futuristic, yeah, but not over the top like in old sci-fi movies. Just... like... umm... normal clothes? With futuristic type colouring... thing... and something. Hard to explain!

I did a quick paint over with the colours. I changed the hair to be more outrageous, and also changed the colour of the specs to look different (I think being different is the key, for each generation is different from the last, so this way you can see it isn't contemporary... at least) As for the shirt, I thought I'd change it slightly, not sure if it looks better or worse. As for the trousers I just brightened them up slightly.

I would go for the smaller arms, fits good imo..

the front view really got something.. he looks like Will Smith in I, Robot.. I do see the futuritic point you mean.. nice! woudnt change it..

At first I thought he was a character from the 80's. I don't think the clothes reveal he's from the future. I like the character a lot, though.

Thanks for the comments.

Here's the new version.

Better? I think I will stick with those colours, unless someone comes up with even better ones.

I still don't like the front view and am having hard time with it... any paintovers are welcome.

Hey cool, no replies must mean that my art is absolutely perfect and there is absolutely nothing wrong with it!

But I'm still not satisfied the front view.

(look what you did! You forced me to DOUBLE POST! I didn't want to do it... really, they made me do it. *sob*)

I like the original orange head more (negroide man)

The original skin colour may seem more natural but there is a reason for the pale skin colour in the actual game.

I would say the orange color is the best too but this post made me change my mind

Well.. tell us the purpose.. cause the orange, or perhaps even brown, would suit the guy much better..

-will smith!

Hey man good pic the laer is much beter, I love seeing progression in these forums!
Well did a quick paintover but to lazy to load it now... ned sleep soon.
Anyway the main reason I am not loading it is because two things are unclear to me
Where is the chracter coming from, is he a rebel etc? whats his persona? I cant draw
without knowing who I am drawing... (Also refering to the racial changing? skin tone)

Next You say futuristic, but yet you give him what looks to me like a leather jacket,
rather looking like a late 90's model to me.

Info please, good pic however!

I like the relaxed look much more... The character has a defined attitude, and does'nt look so stiff.
In a word, cool.
Keep up the good work.
