First I think you should clean your line art and you`re using too many colors in the face. Also, you should start animating after you have fixed the sprite itself. I`m trying to do it myself, but I don`t know if I have the time.

Okay, your main problem would be that you're trying to start without the basics and that's something only pros can do well (and even they mess up sometimes).
There's a picture somewhere in the topics in the Critique lounge that shows walking animation steps, use them as the basic stickman figure (you can even draw over them, use it a s a guide and copy) - draw it then draw basic shapes of your character (circles, squares etc. - for arms, torso, legs and head) do this for every pose/step of the walking animation, then do the finer details.

It's much easier and faster if you start from the basics, cause you see earlier when something is wrong and, which is sometimes more important, you see what exactly is wrong.
Draw the stickman poses then animate it, if it's natural and looks they you want then go to the actual drawing of the character.

And besides if you do that, you can re-use it for other animations so that even more speeds up the sprite animation process.

So stickman -> basic shapes -> check if the animation is smooth and natural -> actual drawing of a specific character -> finer details of the sprite -> final animation tweaking

Good luck.

EDIT: Here, found something that's on the forum already, but still:

or just find all that here: http://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/yabb/index.php?topic=32133.0

Enjoy.
