Try this:

The pic is way too dark to see anything. You definitely need to reduce your screen's brightness. I had to turn my brightness to 100% to see different colors.

When shading something, remember that a light source like a lamp is almost always a single dot from which light emerges in every direction.
BTW: Is that the sun in the top right corner?

Here's an example of how to construct the illuminated areas on the ground:

It is a bit messy, but I hope it helps.

Thanks for the reply, I used Photoshops brightness/Contrass adjustment layers for shadows which made the picture very dark. I added another brightness/contrass adjustment layer to make the picture lighter. Is it better

It is the sun in the upper left corner.
The light sources are the windows and the sun.

My replies may take long, I'm living in rural Eritrea and our Internet is extremely slow and often disconnected.

PS. Thanks for the info on putting the picture  on the forum and shading

Create a roof pattern for roof.

Quick edit of the pic.

I change the colours to work better with the roof pattern

I added a roof pattern, lightened the picture, added a light source at the top of the wall, change the shading.

the shadows still look a little weird. Why is there a light coming from the walls of the house?

I think there should be no light or shading in this picture because the sun is shining from the back of the house...

That could vey well be the problem, the light source is coming from the yellow light above the window.

I removed the light source from the wall and all the lights.
