I have this picture that I plan on editing in cs5
But I wanted to know if there was any tips on it. Like what brushes should I use you know that stuff. Also I am only editing the room img at the top left corner.

This looks great Icey, I would carry on the way you have been going, add another shade to the floor and use some green and red for details. I really like the statue, is it original or traced?
Thanks. I will try.
The statue is original.

I did a rough edit. But some parts and points are pretty valid I believe.

I didn't get the chance to fix that blury thing happening here and there, so please that wasn't my intention with this. Also I wanted to fix some outlines.
I like it but sadly I have to stick to the art style of the first room as I can't change it(To much different styles)
Any who do you think you if I add the characters to a layer you can tell me how to get them like the background? I want to use it as my box art.
Here is the OST art. Thank to Dualnames.

Basic critics:
An issue that exists in your final version (and that Dualnames addressed) is the absence of perspective on the ramp in the foreground. It's like it's flat and it doesn't connect properly to the rock on which it stands.
Also, to add some depth to the scene, you could make that whole foreground a bit darker (Dualnames did that in a subtle way, but if you don't want to bother just darken the whole foreground).
Oh, and I forgot to mention: It looks really cool, I love those color tones, that architectural style, and the whole atmosphere of this image.
Humm...I am pretty sure I can try that.
Thank.
I can't see your own uploads but if they look anything like Dualnames edit. Leave them as they are! The perspective might be completely off but thats not bad at all. I love this picture. It reminds me of the Bauhaus painting style from the 1920s or the german expressionists.
This is great art! Don't change anything but think about a game that can really do this style justice.

By the look of the background, I think you mean like de Chirico style? That's actually surealism, while Bauhaus style (which I guess would be Klee or Kandinsky) is more apstract and cubistish (I know that's not a word :P ). It is all the 1920s, but Bauhaus was more centered on graphic and industrial design, while surealism and stuff that's more from Spain, France, Italy (Dali, Ernst etc.) is more about remaking of romaticism but with new influence of apstract art.
...and that is all in this week's
More than you want to know epsiode. ;D

No I meant bauhaus. There's a small branch of Bauhaus followers who were dedicated to painting like Lyonel Feininger. But you are right De Chirico came to mind too. He was kind of a pioneer for surrealism.
Anyway now that the pictures are loading I have to give extra props to Dualnames - beautiful edit man!
also @Studio3: Your reference picture gave me a bad flashback - this used to be on the cover of my latin book. Another perfectly innocent picture spoiled by latin.
The image aside, what is OST? I have quite a number of OST CDs in my shelf.... they're Original Soundtracks. ??? Ocean Spirit Tennis?
If I read "Producced" on an ad I'd be immediately put off. Check that stuff.
The image however does look pretty cool. I can't imagine having 2D character walk across there but maybe it works (if they have diagonal views - or maybe it works anyhow).
This background is looking nice, your work is improving a lot. I think it would benefit from some rubble detail around the bottoms of the walls and scattered around the floor area just to emphasise the ruined nature of the scene.
I thought most people would know what OST was from the start.
However, I will go back an edit the text on the img.
@ Tier: Thanks, Once I figure out how to add rubble then I will fix it. ;)
just a few rough pointers:

- if the arches aren't purely decorative alcoves or something of that kind, there should be more depth to these elements.
- from the other shadows you have drawn, I estimated the light source being somewhere high in the rightish vicinity. So I guess the building should be casting a shadow as well.
My paint-over is very rough and exaggerated so that the areas I am talking about become more obvious. Some of the elements are, as others have already pointed out, rather warped perspective-wise, making the lighting quite difficult.
All in all this is a nice scene and I'm eager to see were you are going with this. Keep it up.
No matter how I look at it, I just can't understand what the stuff in the lower left corner are. I think it would need some work. I mean the other part of the scene is clear, I can form a 3D image in my head immediadly, but the lower left corner just baffles me.

Seconded. That bothered me right from the beginning.
Again, a very rough idea:

...some kind of balcony?
But these a very valid concerns, Icey! I think you should maybe start the left front and the right upper corner from scratch. Try to scetch the buildings as they would have been in tact and then start demolishing them in places. Just to get an idea of the actual architecture of the place.
I kindda thought of that from the beginning but I came to an idea. This stuff was all in tact a 1000 years ago and over time the land start to shift thus moving every thing about over the land/years.
However, I will fix the left corner and the light source is coming from the top leftish.
