QFG-like soundtrack. It's pretty pointless (I'm not doing any games at the moment), but it turns out pretty well and I'm not going to stop.

I would like to hear your opinion about following tracks (all loopable):
http://www.2dadventure.com/ags/charselect.mid - Character Selection track. Fighter, Mage, Thief.
http://www.2dadventure.com/ags/battle.mid - Battle track based on charselect.
http://www.2dadventure.com/ags/guild.mid - Adventurers' Guild. It's kinda unfinished and I'd like help on this one.

All MIDIs sound best on Yamaha's SXG soft synth.

Thank you!

I don't have any C&C for you, but I thought you should know that only the battle midi played back through Windows Media Player 10. The others gave this error:
Windows Media Player cannot play the file.
The Player might not support the file type or might not
support the codec that was used to compress the file.

It sounded pretty darn good.
Still waiting for Purity of the Surf II

Yeah, charselect and guild don't work at all, which is very sad. I'd really want to hear them, since I very much liked the battle song. You've got talent! :)

I'm glad you liked the battle theme :)

These are very nice compositions! I'm not sure what "QFG-like" is referring to, but I assume these are for a RPG? I do have a few suggestions:

1. This is a nice piece, but personally I wonder if it's right for character selection music. I think I'd minimize the number of instruments for this, maybe use one or two to play through the different characters' themes, and remove the percussion. You might also want to try a minor key so it sounds more "mysterious" and less like "sneaking around."

2. Battle track: It's not until about half-way through the track when the full "orchestra" finally gets going. My experience with these games is you're usually pulled right into combat. You might want to consider minimizing (or even completely eliminating) the build-up and get right into it.

3. Guild track: I think I'd change the trumpet to some kind of wind instrument (maybe a flute or an oboe) to make this tune a little more "folk"-like. The trumpet kind of overpowers the other instruments here, and makes the track sound more like a royal procession into a castle or something.

I guess these are more personal preferences than anything, but hopefully I've given you something to think about. Like I said earlier, they're nice compositions just the way they are!
