I really don't have a clue what to add to this room?! It seems pretty empty to me, but I can't figure out what to add anymore?!

I think perspective, that will need a lot of lines and colours, and you can improve the door. You can allways include a painting, a carpet, a tv, light (foot candle or hanging in the roof...)
Even for the better artists in the world is difficult to draw using just imagination. Look at Miez, probably the best Bg creator in the community... He uses photos as a reference. C´mon, raise your ass from the chair and go to your living room to see which elements you can use! :)
a different colour for the walls, gradients to indicate light sources, texture effects...
ty farlander... yes i should look at my own room :P
and to dmitri! NOOO Im not using gradients because all graphics are done in mspaint only... so gradients would be cheating!
Like Farlander said, you'll probably find what you need by looking at your own walls.
Alter them for you theme, ie:Wacky, Sinister, Happy, Old etc...
Like day of the tentacle (wacky) had odd colors and angles on its furniture and props. :)
I have done a little editing of your image and I think the result is not too crappy, (I know I'm not much of an artist, but I try to improve)

Maybe it's some kind of inspiration.

Nice background Minime! Though the colors seem odd to me (the floor and walls that is).
TheKork: I like the additions, one thing though, the poster (MU ZAK?) is off perspective, it should follow the lines of the wall. :)
Ginny, the poster was meant to be "mu-zak", but it might be better to see in my new version. (including corrected perspective)

Looking better. The tv looks very odd though.. Try putting it on a table. It's also at a topish view. If you can, make it more of a back view. If you haven't already done most of your backgrounds, you should shade them to make them look better by adding shadows and a source of light (maybe the tv).
Is the bookshelf inside the wall? Nice, allthough the TV bothers me also
I think the key to a good adventure game room is wacky drawings and a good use of shading.
Here's one I did in MS Paint:

I made this in about 5-10 minutes. It's decent, wacky, shaded reasonably well and it has a slight bit of depth to it. This is just my opinion though. I did it in MS Paint because I didn't want to cheat... :P
This probably isn't the style your going for though but I think it looks pretty good.
