Title: Ichabod Crane - Update - 7th
Post by: TheDude on Tue 04/05/2004 16:34:22
This is supposed to be based on Johnny Depp from Sleepy Hollow. The face needs some work and the arm position on the side view...

XXXXXXXXXX UPDATED VIEW XXXXXXXXXX - 7th May

I found some time this morning to do this side view.

looks good to me...i don't know how you would get any more detail in the face at such low res

I think the arm in the front view needs to be 1 pixel thicker, to close the gap with the body slightly. Maybe use the outline grey from the side view, to stop it from merging. As for the face, maybe you need to take some detail AWAY, to stop it looking so cluttered.

Looks good, I can see the resemblance.  I think the arm could be a little thicker in the front view, and the hand in the side view could be a little smaller.  The hair in the side view could use some shading as well, but I think it looks really nice overall.

i think if you made the arm 1 pixel wider it would be too wide.  i think it would look about right if you used gray tones to increase the width less than a full pixel (or make it appear that way when zoomed out), in fact the entire outline could be done this way to make the character appear less superimposed.  this would require the use of an alpha channel.

his right arm needs to come in a little, because if you can picture him without the jacket it doesnt look qite right. I think his shoulders are also a little too slanted . Is this for a game based on the film?

his arms are too long and thin. Otherwise, it looks pretty awesome.

I see the resemblance instantly..

The front view looks awesome, but the side view's head kinda gives me the AGI feeling, and not so blended like his face is on the front view..

Awesome work.

That's a really good sprite.  I'd love to see what type of game it ends up in.

I love that sprite!

His face looks too pale, either that or his hair is too dark....

Absolutely fantastic!
The resemblance with Depp in SH is striking. Also, for such a small sprite it has lots of character and i love the use of colors (very moody).

Thank you for all the comments people!

I did some experimenting with the extra pixel and I could never get it to look quite right.

Quotehis right arm needs to come in a little, because if you can picture him without the jacket it doesnt look qite right. I think his shoulders are also a little too slanted . Is this for a game based on the film?
Looking at it now you're right about the right shoulder being slanted a little too much, i think the left shoulder works ok though. I might have to change the length of his legs too.

QuoteThe front view looks awesome, but the side view's head kinda gives me the AGI feeling, and not so blended like his face is on the front view..
I'm not that pleased with the entire side view anyway, and i've realized that I won't actually need a dead-on side view like that one, apart from when he's walking that is. I'll likely use a side view that isn't totally dead-on it's side (if you get what i mean... :P).

QuoteHis face looks too pale
I did this on purpose so that's fine.

Quotehis arms are too long and thin.
I think it MIGHT be that his legs are actually a little too small, i'll have a look later.

Huge improvement!
The face is a little indistinct, but it looks pretty good small.
Now you just need to sort out his trousers in the front view.

The bottom nose pixel keeps looking like a Hitler mustache to me. (sorry)

Maybe lighten it a touch?
