OK.Ã,  Thank you up to this point for the ideas.Ã,  I have just finished version 2 of my story.Ã,  A lot of things have changed.Ã,  Ã, The game will not intertwine with King's Quest, and when you read the new storyline, I think you will know why.

Crusader: Elemental Origins

Many years ago there existed four crystals, one for each of the elements: Fire, Water, Air, and Earth.Ã,  These crystals kept peace and order throughout the land.Ã,  Until one day a dark wizard stole these crystals, so that their powers could be used to revive his master.Ã,  But according to legend, a man born from the crystals, and armed only with his family’s enchanted dagger, stepped forward and defeated the wizard, and restored peace and order throughout the land.

Many years passed, and the crystals became nothing more than legend.

Now it is the year 2010.Ã,  A man by the name of Leon comes home one night to find his family savagely murdered.Ã,  The only thing stolen was his wife’s necklace and his family’s dagger.Ã,  Not knowing the true power of either, Leon and his friend, detective Jack Archer, begin to search for the killer.Ã,  But Leon is about to find out the truth behind his ancestors, and the power that he possesses...

If you think something else should change, please don't hesitate to tell me.

P.S. If you recognize the name of the detective, let me know!
(hint: It was a PS2 game from TDK,  Air Combat-type game)

My problem to almost every RPG I've ever played was one: Why would the Dark Wizard hide the four Orbs, and just make it difficult for the hero to find. Since he is armed just with the knife (even if it is enhanced) he could kill him instantly.
And in every RPG you get killed a dozen times, always reloading from a previous point. So if every monster the wizard created is capable of killing the hero, I think that the wizard is perfect for the job.
KILL the Hero and get on with destroying the world.

Actually it always seemed very dim for the wizard to create a 11 storey dungeon (etc. etc.) and hide in there...

But then again, I love RPGs. It's not the story line (although the best storyline ever I think it was Betrayal at Krondor). It is the Gameplay and the whole feeling that you're in a strange (medieval most of the times) world, with magic, swords...

Go ahead, do what you want. Your story is fine. Every story is fine. Just make sure it is worth playing (No kidding...)

Man still very clichéd... The legend is the rest isn't... How about he instead of wanting the orbs or whatever he would want to mix them to destroy nature and earth itself? And the hero being claustrophobic and obsessiver compulsive detective and being afraid of that task alot?

Why, oh why am I thinking of Torins Passage right now? ::) I'd suggest that you throw away the whole mix-up-the-stories-of-well-known-old-games-to-a-brand-new-game-idea and instead make your own story ;)
I've got three 'taters, a bucketfull o' pelicans...and satan!

So, basically you want to create a fantasy story set in a sci-fi world? There's many ways to do that, but that four-crystals vs. family-killed isn't the most original of ideas. Coming up with a game idea can be bloody hard, but even harder is to turn the idea into a complete story :P Once you've created what you think is a solid story, check it against http://www.wordplayer.com/columns/wp05.Death.to.Readers.html (Checklist A and C, in particular).

Good luck and lots of creativity with that story, then! :D
