Hey folks, I always got helpful advice from you here, so I think it's worth a try.

I did this Poster for my Indiana Jones fangame (the demo, to be exact) the other day and just wanted to know what you think. Some might remember that Indy, I posted him here some time ago.
Is the composition alright? To empty? Etcetera. ;)

Thank you!

Looks good, but what's with the Hellraiser puzzle box? :)

Anian

Yeah, kind of too empty. Maybe some pictures from the game but drawn in this style, make them almost black and white (but with color like dark purple to light blue or brown to cream).

But you could also add a bit more hue to all the heads (you'll notice they're usually far orangy/brownish). Second you might notice that every similar poster actually has a frame inside it, be it pillars or similar, I suggest using some of those patterns on the cube (Pandora's box if I'm not mistaken) and use it to make a frame (not on the edge of the poster but about 1/3 or 1/4 way from the edge).

Third, maybe change the position of the heads and the box to make it less symetrical and add more dynamic that way.
I don't want the world, I just want your half

Lol, I didn't know where the box was from. I just found it while looking for a cool box design. Is it to obvious? If s, I'd change that xD

Edit: hey anian, that's alot of hints! Thank you very much. Especially the frame should be a done.

The poster doesn't really say much about your game. Why are George Lucas and Spielberg there? And why does it say E.T. on his cap? Is this some sort of parody game that will actually feature Lucas, Spielberg and E.T?
I guess you could keep Ford there, but definitely add some in-game graphics, or at least some kind of scenery from the game.

GarageGothic

Beautiful artwork, love the style (already said so when you posted Indy). I think you've gone a bit too heavy on the dark outlines though - especially noticable on Spielberg's face shape and Lucas' hairline. I also think you should paint the glow from the box rather than using a filter (and isn't that a *gasp* lens flare on the corner of the box?) - it really clashes with the artwork

Kaio

Thanks all!
@ Andail: Spielberg and Lucas are there for a purpose :). They say much about the story, at least of our (tech-)demo, which is only a few rooms. But you are right, on almost all Indy Posters there is at least on action scene.
@GarageGothic: Thanks! And yeah, I'm afraid that's a lens flare ;). I was a bit lazy, to be honest. Maybe you are right about the outlines, too. They only look so dark (esp. on Spielberg), because the glow of the box is so bright.

Thanks again @ you all! You really help me.

Really nice one. One thing that I'm not quite sure is the supposed mood of the fan game.
From the smile of the characters in the poster it seems that they're all very happy. Is it supposed to be a merry parody, or rather contain more serious contents?

Not meant to be rude but I found it looking like an ad for a particular product (mainly because of the above reason), say a box of chocolate or perfume and...
Dr Jones, "It smells good. Try it!"
George, "It makes you handsome. Use it!"
Spielberg, "It tastes good. I assure you!"
;D

Kaio

Haha Gilbet, that's exactly the direction we are going with our little demo. It's going to be parodistic, and the poster is not to be taken serious, too. I just wanted Spielberg and Lucas to look a bit stupid there :).

Khris

Disregarding the art for a moment, shouldn't it read "Geheimnis der Pandora"? In Greek mythology, she's the first women on earth, i.e. a person. "Geheimnis von x" makes it sound like x was a location.

Kaio

You are right, a teammate also mentioned this :). Anyway here's an updated version, but the only thing I did so far was editing Steven Spielberg's face and removing the lens flare. I'll try messing with the whole composition later.

NsMn

Lucas still looks like a weasle.

Kaio

LOL. He's supposed to look cheesy, so I'm not to bothered by that  ;). In fact, he looks 100% like this:  :=

Everybody has covered the issues with composition, saturation, hellraiser box (yes, that box is pretty obvious, iconic).

The problem I have is with the two prominently featured sell-outs. So smug and arrogant, knowing they created worlds for my imagination to explore, only to dice it all up with a very... dull... butter knife.

I like your art.

Babar

Steven Speilburg looks like Alf. But so does George Lucas. It is disconcerting :D.

Mh, it's kinda finished:

Thank you for all the comments so far! C&C are still welcome, though. You never stop to learn.

The box is a clear improvement in every respect.  I do have to agree with the others that having two fat, washed up producer-directors on a poster about KICKING ASS diminishes its impact somewhat.

Good thing you removed the hellraiser-lament-configuration-puzzle-box.

Kaio

Lucas and Spielberg are there for a purpose! And it's not, because I'm a great fan of the recent work of both, but the opposite. You'll see when the demo is done ;).
