Title: Insane in the mainframe?
Post by: AndersM on Sat 24/05/2003 17:54:58
The mainframe of the computer in my spaceship/starbase (I dunno yet) I just had to make it like this, to associate with a 'insane' computer in a certain film. Does anyone recognize the scene (film) and what do you think about it (the shot)? Does it look futuristic enough? I dunno what the white slots are for, or why some of them are lit up and some ain't. I suppose that the slots contains laserdisks or something and they are lit when the computer reads/writes on them. Neighter do I know why the room is red. It was so in the film, so i just copied the whole concept....

The BMP in JPG format.

I would add differnt colored lights, such as yellow and pale green. Looks good all around, not much to crit on...

Well, even before reading your post or looking at your avatar I immediatly was reminded of 2001, a Space Odyssey by Stanly Kubrick. So yes, it's pretty obvious. (And I like it!)

hehe, I wouldn't do that. At least not when you're trying to spoof the aforementioned movie ;)

Yeah, I thought of 2001 too, not only because of the picture, but also because of your avatar text... ;D
Looks very good, I might add.

And the winner is ERWIN_BR who was the first one to find the connection to Kubric's '2001'.

I'm going to ad some kind of console with the 'evil eye' and some bigger slots like in the pic you posted.

Definately keep it the way it is... it's much more ominous.

Out of this World?  That's what I was thinking from the onset.  I imagine it probably is, though it wouldn't be too hard to duplicate in character form in paint or somesuch.

The mods sure are Eeevil... I hope that they remove that sign
now that I changed it to a link. They got exactly 24 h to remove the sign, or I'll see them in court...

as fas as i realize it if you post a BMP it automatically changes to that sign

cause well you shouldn't post bmps

now if only you'll make a game with these graphics DO IT

I've removed the pic and replaced it with a link, but the 'I'm with stupid' -sign still is there... last night I gave them 24 h to remove it before I'll take 'em to court for defamation, and that time is allmost up now...

Masse, why don't you just change the image to a png, upload it, and edit your original post? It's a lot more useful than trying to be funny. I'm sorry if that sounded cutting, but I get really tired of people needlessly wasting my bandwidth with bmps when they can quite easily use png or gif.

There are no reasons whatsoever to make them bmp:s.
If you're not some kind of professional designer trying to sell a billion x billion pixels piece of high-tech super filtered artwork to some company, a jpg will not destroy the image for you.

If Mona-Lisa was saved in JPG, it wouldn't turn into some crap your baby brother could have drawn.

If the loss of quality still bothers you, save it in gif or png. It's so easy.
