Hello this is the first scene in my game after the main charatcer has rode into the castle on his horse...
Dont know what to put on the left hand side.... Alspo any other improvements needed?

Corey

the last part of the wall and the road look very strange, maybe you should make it a bit for straight.
At the open place you could also place a wall or some part of a castle And you might wanna use some light but I don't know if that would fit into the style of your game.

yeah i will be adding basic shading and textur wen the BG is fin.

According to the wall of the barn, the vanishing point (which defines the horizon as well) is where I've drawn the green cross.
Unless the ground is rising towards the horizon, it has to be completely below it.
The wall and barn clash extremely, perspective wise. The red lines should give you an idea how the wall should look like, if you're going to stick to the perspective of the barn.

sorry... could you give me the perspective according to the wal not the barn... Barn being edited... thanks I'm rubbish with perspective

Khris

Oh, it's meant to be wrong. Didn't know that.

Please look at the size of the stones on the ground. Near the bridge, their are a tenth as big, compared to the foreground. But the wall doesn't shrink at all. But yeah, you want it to look wrong, sorry, never mind.

Wow, what's that 18th-century street lamp at a medieval castle?Ã,  :o

As much as I like The Chronicles of Narnia, this is really out of place.  ;)

Except for the barn and lantarnlight, the new version doesnt look strange at all, i really think its a big improvement..

just fix the barn and the light.. cause they both seem to be out of perspective

(and maybe you should change the light like seaduck said in something more medieval)

EDIT:
I was thinking, and thought:
The following is for if you get stuck with this background or for maybe new inside-castle-walls backgrounds..
You got the game World of Warcraft? You could screenshot a picture inside stormwind (city with castle walls) and overdraw it in photoshop, since there's huge castle walls and theres almost every angle you could think of.. i think thats a bit what you looking for.. altho your newest version does look very pretty..

Tomas

Apart from the barn looking generally out of place, I think the main issue here is the perspective of the barn. It just looks odd. I made this edit where I moved the vanishing point to the red dot you can see just right of the bridge. You might want to try something like this instead:

Actually, I did it in 640x400 at first but I resized it prior to posting it because I wanted you to do it yourself, Hoping you'd learn something in the process. :) But since you're asking for it... here you go:

Your last pic (reply #9) looks pretty good already.
Now add the barn and change the top of the lantern (if you wanna keep it in spite of the ~300 year discrepancy ;))

PS: And make the moon a circle :)
