Long time no see everyone. I was cleaning out my hdd and found my unfinished game and decided to start the project over. I know I was a bit of a flamer back in the day, so try not to think of me as such now.

What it is based on, I know the wheels are different.

Unfinished bg it will go on.

It looks pretty good so far. Nice form and overall shape. The 'texture' of the metal isn't brilliant but it works quite well. The wheel inner edges are really pixelly even when zoomed out. I advise you try and soften them a little. It's a nice image and with a bit of refinement should look really great :)

Also, I don't mean to be an ass but next time it might be better if you just modify your post instead of double post.

Very nice vehicle.. toobad the background doesnt fit the character(=vehicle)
The vehicle is kinda cartoonish because of the 2pixelated (thick) lines.. and the background got thin lines (1 pixel) and it's all kinda the same..

Try to make the background more like the vehicle.. i like that thicker style more..

Thats my paintover. I've addedÃ,  shading, light and changed the seats.
But I don't know about the wheels.Ã,

I'll let people with better pixelling abilities than me critique the art, but I just want to say that the sprite wont work that well with the background.

The vanishing point on the background is way too high for this sprite.  In other words, the background is like a picture taken from a very high place while the car is pictured from the side.  If the car was actually on that background, we'd be able to see quite a bit of the inside.

I like the car, but I'd redraw the background from a lower angle.

Lovely car!

- Even if it's a stateman's car, it doesn't have to be black, does it? (If it weren't a stateman's, wine-red and green would work great too)
- the whole car is from total profile, changed the seats to profile too
- not that even in the right image those are not 100% desaturated grays, they have a slight blu tint (examine the palette).
- added some highlights, shadows, and made the splashers brighter
- slight tint to every color

Great so far, keep it up!

The background feels and is very empty. I'm not sure if all the doors will be interactive objects but if you at least have one that's not, then add it. How come there are no sign or windows and stuff like that. And the alley should have trashcans and litter.

I agree with that the ground is too high. You should see some walls or sky at the end of the alleys.

What bothers about the car that it somehow feels too flat. Why not add a little bit of the other side to the car to make it less flat. And also you should see some of the front of the car and the seats. Also, shouldn't the extra tire be on the back of the car, or is it just me?

As for the art...

I'm going mad if I look at those tyres any longer, so I had to do this! (look closely what I did with the tyres, removed some silly pixels)

As Vince said, if you're going to use the car on the background as it is now, it will look like a cardboard cutout. Make a compromise, lower the vanishing point in the background and make make the car look more like a three dimensional object.

Heres what I have now

It fits quite well actually on the bg when its in animation. Plus this Bg will only be used in an cutscene.
