Can we get some idea of what your story is about? Is the castle there for a reason? What is this structure we're looking at?

The game is called "Tower".
Far away from your castle you must build towers to protect evil forces to get into your castle.
You can upgrade the towers and build more powerful towers and so on.

Stu, I don't think Blizzard invented the idea of watch towers.
Or evil forces.
Or castles.
Ah! There is no emoticon for what I'm feeling!

I think the picture looks okay.
But if I were you, I would make it darker. Changed some of the hue/saturation settings.

Hi, Timmo. I like it as it is, but it's kinda empty. Just add some smaller or bigger details, such a defensive wall (I haven't seen any castle without a wall around) and other built-up areas in the background. Why? It's a little nonsense in building the watch tower on the totally open area.

Oh, I wonder whether the word "torn" in Estonian means "tower" or what?

The tower's base is kinda' boring. It looks to me like a random texture thrown on there for the sake of having a texture. Some more descript might look better.

Also, if thisis about building muliple towers, maybe have another one or two off in the background, poking out of the tallgrass.

And as far as that goes, if I had such a tower, I'd be sure to somehow get rid of surrounding tallgrass, since it seems unlikely to do anything but put you at a disadvantage (harder to see enemies in tall grass and brush, even from a tower, I'd wager). Unless the grass is pre-mowed or it presents some sort of advantage to a watchtower builder, it seems sort of odd.

The tower doesn't look very tall, either -- more like a kiddie tree-fort. If this is to be an intro pic, I'd like to see one of the really COOL and tall tower upgrades that I'm going to be striving to get sometime down the road -- not the biggest and best, but something cool-looking, anyway.

Sorry if allof this seems harsh. Overall, it's nice enough (if a bit sparce), and I really do like the castle in the background and the clouds/ sky.

I do agree with the darker colours. In a war-like atmosphere, they seem to fitbetter -- the originals looked a bit on the happy side.

I don't know about Estonian, but in swedish "torn" means tower. :)

In view of fact that the Estonian territories were Swedish in XVI century it's plausible. :)

Oliver

"Torn" is "Tower".

And is the tower in the picture some very basic thing that you have at the beginning of the game and then later on you will be advancing and stuff like that?

If not maybe you should try making a tower that fits more with the castle in the background.

I'm thinking of something like this...

just a thought.

PS! Good to see another Estonian in the AGS community ;)
You got it!

I like your idea :)

I'd maybe add a small hill or something under the tower so it doesn't look so fallen-from-the-sky. I also like Lonely Star's edit.

..and "tower" in Finnish is "torni", btw... ::)
I used to make games but then I took an IRC in the knee.

What nobody noticed was that the ladder was too tall.
How would you get on the top of the tower when you can't get over the ladder :D.
Thanks for ideas.
