Okay, this time it's voice clips. I recorded myself doing a few lines in various accents for your perusal and subsequent shred-ripping. A few things before I open the floor up:

My best accents by far are Scottish, English and Irish. My Welsh in this clip is terrible, my American isn't great, but I'm pretty proud of Australian. I know it says Jamaican in my profile as well but it's quite late at night and I'm intentionally being quieter than I could otherwise be while recording to avoid embarrassment. :P I'll put up some better ones tomorrow or Sunday.

If anyone is impressed with my work and wants to use me for voiceovers, or even if you just want to hear what I sound like reading a particular line in a particular accent (not limited to the ones listed, I'm always willing to try something new so go wild) just give me the line, character reading it, and desired accent and I'll do my best to give you a sample of what I'm capable of. Now here are the clips!

Scottish
Irish
Welsh
American
Australian

Note that the Scottish clip is using a Glaswegian accent. I can also do milder Scots and Sean Connery-esque speech.

Edit: Also, here's one of my unfinished RPG themes (for a boss battle). I'll put it in here instead of making a new topic.

Hm. I'll try uploading them somewhere else. (Or alternatively try right click-save as)

Edit: Uploaded them on MediaFire instead. Should hopefully work okay.

MoodyBlues

I was able to download most of them last night, so here goes:

I should warn you that I have an American (Midwestern) accent myself, so I might not be a good judge of European accents.

Scottish - I really have trouble understanding what you're saying; it sounds like "I've been maintaining the system at the equator."  It sounds a little like John Lennon, and if that's what a Glaswegian accent should sound like, then you're good.

Irish - Again, I had to listen to this one a few times to understand what you're saying.  I think you need more volume.  Other than that, the accent's pretty good, especially the "ar" in "farfetched."  Just try making your voice lower.  I think you were going for an Irish lilt, and you went too high.

Welsh - I have no idea what a Welsh accent should sound like, sorry.  :)  But the acting here is good.

American - I couldn't get this one to download.

Australian - You should be proud of this one; as far as I can tell, it sounds almost perfect.  The line's pretty funny, too - henpecked Crocodile Hunter!

Overall, these are pretty good.  To improve your accent accuracy, it might be a good idea to study films where native speakers use these accents; for example, watch Bloody Sunday if you want to improve your Irish (specifically Belfast) accent.  And if you're really serious, check out a linguistics book and find out how European accents differ from your own.

I don't know why, but all files was broken, as I downloaded them.  :(

Really? That sucks. Know anywhere else reliable that I could upload them? Or give me your IM info and I'll send them directly.

mediafire is fairly reliable and doesn't have a stupid code entry to download stuff.

You should upload the files again, because now they're all just 403 error documents renamed to .wav

Audio files are never that tiny, unless they are samples of waveforms.

Open one in notepad and get this:
Code: ags
<!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//IETF//DTD HTML 2.0//EN">

<title>403 Forbidden</title>

<h1>Forbidden</h1>

Ooh balls, thanks for pointing out that the file sizes are tiny. I'll re-record these and upload new ones.

The Jamaican one was just me trying to record one of Sanka's lines from Cool Runnings. I don't think it turned out very well, but hey ho. I'm really proud of the Australian one, though. ^_^ I also recorded a different line for the Scottish one that should be easier to understand and went a bit deeper on the Irish.

I think it's been long enough for a little bump. People must know the awesomeness that is my voice! I demand recognition and adulation!

I thought, you've got some recognition and adulation already... ;)

...but ok, OK... I like the samples  :) Dunno if they really sound irish or american (I'm not an english speaker) but they sound very good.

PM me, if you are interesting in voice acting for a game, I have a free character in my NecroQuest.

yarooze: If you let me know the character and give me some lines to do, I'll certainly consider it.
