Ehh, I have been working on a man that looked like this:
Anything wrong with him? Is he too on his body?
it kinds looks as if he's laying down in a confined space...
make his shoulders a bit wider and try make it look as if his arms aren't as close to his body, also try do something about the shoes so it looks as if he's standing rather than on the very tip of his toes...
apart from that i think it's great, i like his facial features, but the small body doesn't really suit them much...
The thing is, I got two side views of him and hes skinny on the side view so when I pasted the two views together, he looks like that, but I changed his arms.
The pictures broken.
Edit, oh well he's back again.
He looks fun, but hunched . .and he hasn't got any joints to speak of - so i'm not sure how he will walk. If you lower the sholders and his . .the part where his legs meet, you will have a nice looking sprite . .maybe.
Well, here's my interpretation of your sprite:
As you can see, he looks a lot smaller... I don't know if that's your style or not, so sorry.Ã, :-\ Well...
- I added a longer neck. Maybe too long, hmm.
- Lessened the shoulder's angle
- Chopped off a bit of the hair
- Made the mouth two pixels wide and the noise three pixels instead of one
- Tried to fix the pants
- Made the guy skinnier
Please keep in mind I made this sprite up in 5 minutes so please excuse the crappiness.
1 thing is, I want him to be a man, not a boy. Second thing is, his pants need to look more real, not cartooney. And third, he needs shoes which I think that all I did were crappy: (http://www27.brinkster.com/edwinxie/shoes.gif)
So, I modified Dart's sprite and he looks like this:
These are the new features:
- Made him taller
- Got him to look more older
- Changed his mouth and nose to make him look more symmetrical
- Added socks
- Changed his pants
The thing is, I need some ideas for shoes on him and it has to be congruent to his socks.
Edit: Finally I got the picture to work.
I need some up and down walking views for him.
feet dont do that, for shoes you want semi circles
So what? I look at this Platypus here and copy his feet to make it?
Quotehis pants need to look more real, not cartooney
If you want realistic you need realistic feet.
Lets just say I don't like the pant style. Ok? I don't want arguments. The thing is the Y part.
So, I worked on a guy in Graphics Gale and I made: (sorry, I didn't have time to save this on another format)
www.2dadventure.com/ags/character_progress.bmp
And then his "knocked unconcious view":
www.2dadventure.com/ags/character_progressside.bmp
(um, I think that was supposed to be sideways)
on both views he has short arms and on the side view he looks like he is wearing a tupey and there is no shading on either of them
bah, forget the shading. What about his shoes?
Man, this is going to take a long time to get a reply.
Tap, tap, tap, tap, tap, tap, tap, tap, tap, tap, tap, tap, tap, tap, tap, tap.
In the view in which he is facing the player, I might make his neck a little bit wider. And, as you already know, shoes will make him look much better. Shoes aren't hard to draw, just start simple and draw two squares at his feet and round them off at the end.
Alright.....
Hm...
I think the main reason it's taking a while to get a response is because you aren't too clear on what you're after.
For example, when you posted the two links of your second character (front and side view), you were wanting comments on the shoes. In which case, you should have said so. Daz was just commenting because you didn't specify what sort of crit you were looking for (until afterwards)
For the first guy, one problem is that the shoes are unlevel. Unless he's standing on some really rocky surface, his feet should be flat (that is, the bottom of them should be on a horizontal line) Also, the left foot appears bigger than the right.
For the second guy, well... "bah. forget the shading. What about the shoes?" doesn't really give me any ideas as to what sort of shoes you are after.
Apart from that, I like your edit of Dart's. Maybe chop a few pixels off the legs though?
Good luck :)
