Have been working on this for a few hours. It seems a bit empty, but i dont know what to add. Any ideas?

Have been using a lucas arts tutorial for some inspiration.

Daniel Thomas

Hope this can inspire, Nothing fancy, just to show some options(shading, framing, shadowing)..

maybe try to add some more trees or a different type of soil terrain.

gameboy

And you may add:
*sand
*bushes & other plants
*maybe some texture for the grass?
*and the same on the water
*and what about a sun?

And the sky color was way too dark before, but zyndikate already fixed that on the paintover.

Thanks everyone :)

*Sand where?
*Will do
*Still experimenting with artgem :-\ Is there a way to add texture there?
*same as above
*Well. Looking at the shadows, the sun is far right, out of the pic.

Will work on another version. Just come up with some new stuff...

EDIT: Made some changes. Is it better? Worse?

How now? Did some small edits, and gave the sea some texture... Starting to get satisfied with it, but there is still something missing... (?)

EDIT: Oops :-\ Sorry for double posting :(

I can see it perfectly... But i'll try and add it again.

EDIT: It should work now

Haddas

Try to avoid using non-english letters. ø might be the cause for the non workage.

vict0r

I thought that too  := (great minds think alike, eh, eh?) Thats why i renamed it and uploaded it again :)

Daniel Thomas

Now it shows, IMO I would go for a smaller "frame in"

What style are you going for? if its lucasarts you shouldnt add too much texture. If you want realistic you should add texture, easiest way to add grass is to add some green shades and work the straws with more or less vertical lines, if you got a tablet for your computer this win be a problem. If you dont have a tablet snudge could work, wind render or, ofcourse, you could just pixel it if you got the time.
Water, add horizontal reflections, most importand to make it look good is antialiasing i guess, check some references :>

I like the way you did the water now... Nice and clean , not too texturized. Thought I don't like that big cloud on the right... It's just too big, I dunno.

Yes. The water is quite nice now. Maybe minor contrast variations. Now all it needs is more vegetation, lie a bush on the left near the flowers wouldn't hurt :)

vict0r

Added a bush. Anything else i can do to improve it?

LilBlueSmurf

I think one of the major things is that everything is just so flat.  This is not a yard where everything is nice and trimmed.  Make some patches of tall grass, make the bush more scragly, add in some rocks on the path as well as shading along the grass edges.  Make the path a bit less uniform, it looks almost like someone has gone along it with an edger.  Add some slight variation to the hue of grass, some slightly more blue, some slightly more brown.  And finally, add some variation to the clouds, I have never seen clouds that are so smooth and of such a consistant color.

vict0r

Thanks for the feedack Lil B :)

(hopefully) Made the grass look better. Didnt quite get the cloud thingy... Do a paintover?

LilBlueSmurf

Tried to keep it similar to your style, not great, but it shows what I mean.
