Hello! After some time of patient observation I just noticed that in my town there are a lot of italian restaurants, and a couple of american restaurants, but not a single "italoamerican restaurant" or a classical "greasy spoon" dinner... That gave me the idea of, probably, starting a business of serving pizzas, pasta, but also hamburgers, hot dogs and pretzels in a never seen before environment... I came up with this logo idea... which do you like? Feel free to download the image and attempt new colour schemes, or new ideas for the logo.

P.S. Damn! Photobucket resized my image, and the logo elements are not on 2 bits anymore... Don't worry, just edit that images, I will fix the colours with my own painting program.
P.S.S. I've updated the image to Neole's space... It's huge! My apologies... If a moderator thinks that I should resize the image, I will do it asap! :(
Thanks.
I think the top right logo looks great! I could really imagine it stamped on coffee cups, napkins etc. Do you have a shop to rent or would it be a transformed-garage type business?
Nice logo that. Only criticism I'd have is a lack of contrast and thus readability at a distance. Maybe make the blue background colour in the inner circle a lighter blue (trouble with that is you're introducing a fourth colour)? Or find a way to make the "Brooklyn" text white maybe? I dunno, something like that. But yeah, otherwise it's a perfect logo for its use I'd say.
(Completely unrelated: it's funny how pasta and pizza are considered Italian still while hotdogs, hamburgers and pretzels are 'American' rather than German)

According to the crits, I came up with this... Maybe I am putting too many elements?

The latest I got... I like it, but I am not sure if so many elements make it distracting...
Thanks for the crits.
Definitely getting too busy now I think. Much prefer the simpler ones in the first post. The new stuff just makes it an unreadable mess, visually.
You could maybe use the waitress image in place of the Brooklyn Bridge if you like it (and think you can pull reasonable use). Buuuuut... yeah, I prefer the first ones (if you come up with more contrasty colours).
Yeah, way too many, elements and colours now. Maybe even make the edge say "italoamerican restaurant est. 1956." and make the font smaller so it doesn't distract so much. And while I like this new perspective of the bridge more than those before, you might wanna lose some detail and make it more like the logos before, cause this much detail on a small area will be more costly to make (more scrap) and it probably won't turn out as well as it looks on the screen right now.
If you stiil like the elements (the ball and the waitress) make them into separate logos and insert "brooklyn" logo on them, that way you have variations that set the mood. All together, just seems too crowded and if you think of it a sign on restaurant window or a street sign in front, it's just too messy so the actual name will be lost inside it and it all won't be noticable if you view it from farther away anyway but you'll get a blur.
I like the new bridge better than the first version. I would remove the waitress and the baseball (but leave in the "estabilished" banner) and flip the bridge graphic horizontally ... this would make the bulky part of the bridge more symmetrical with the B (larger part) of Brooklyn and should serve to "balance" the logo!

I agree with this.

I personally think the baseball and the waitress have to go. IMO they seem to make the banner try
too hard to be American. (plus the aforementioned issue of clutter).
Damn, this image didn't seem so big when I was editing it.. oh wellEDIT: Made it smaller :)
Peace

Now that ^ is nice.
(Scarab's Edit): I know the Brooklyn writing is half way, but it looks too high with the Italoamerican above it. Moving it down a tad would balance it up. Also, the large tower to the left of the bridge would look good if it was the Tower of Pisa. (The same size as the current tower though).

- I reversed the angle of the bridge (had to work with a color reduced stock photo, so it could use some work in the final version)
- lowered brooklyn a bit
- punched up the red color just a little on Brooklyn to make it more the focal point (if it was meant to be the focal point!)
- I used copy/paste from your original file for the italoamerican restaurant text so it could use touch-up as well
Here is the Development PSD File (~1.4mb) (http://www.twin-design.com/ags/help/nacho_restaurant.psd) if you want it!
Hope it helps amigo!
I like the restaurant idea.
The logo reminds me of this place here in Austin:

One thing though. Does "ItaloAmerican" sound good in Spanish? Because it sounds awkward in English. Italian-American is better.
And another one thing. To me it suggests more pasta dishes (ziti, spaghetti, etc). Perhaps you could say New York style. As long as you don't say deli...
