Title: Knight needs help
Post by: Andail on Sun 26/09/2004 16:12:37
...with background, sword, etc.
I'm sorry to bother you already with yet a non-ags illustration, but I've been working the entire day with this, I need some feedback.

NB: This is the latest update; The first version is not available anymore.
Pen-tablet, 5+ hours. Reference for armour.

Halfway-through sample:

So, I still have a lot to do, but right now I can't look at this picture one more second, and my mind is pretty blank.

edit: Shrank the lips according to c&c given below.

Something about the lips troubles me , they seem too puckered up . Maybe if you reduce their size and shadow.

Looks really good Andail.

The face seems a little off. The half way face looks great though. Also, the sword doesn't seem to be 'heavy' enough. Maybe make it longer and a bit thicker?

Asch, I made him a bit "special" looking, since I thought his face was too bland at first (on the halfway-through-picture), I purposely made him almost a bit hare-lipped.

But apparently, I overdid it :)
I will keep the face the way it is for now...knights can be a bit ugly too, right?

It's very classy, but somehow I see this knight as a teenager or a midget. Too big head, probably?
Also, this gadget on his helmet looks rather uncomfortable, it's too long in my opinion.

The face can still be hare-lipped, just not as long.

Theres a quick photoshop I did. Doesnt look great, but gets the point across.

two new faces.. subtile changes. I guess you want the wicked grin? Then you could make him show us some teeth so we know he's completely mad!Ã,  :=

The original face reminds me of Calista Flockheart. (Ally McBeal) :S

is it just me, or is the mouth big?

The knight is just beautiful if you change the wide mouth. But the sword is like half as long as it should be and is held at a wierd angle. Look at the hand. The sword should be aligned to the back of his/her hand. As it is now it's not.

Update:
Smaller mouth, also narrower face, to make him more adult and male. The sword is also longer, although it lacks details so far.

I'm afraid the part between his lips is simply too straight a line, and too dark.

Petter, what is this "Nolore"? You aren't lacking some lore by any chance?

Some modifications:

Requires flash 7 player (about 90 kb) (http://marcus.krupa.se/AGS/_Modification_knight.htm)

Some notes:

(I) Changed the lighting in the face/helmet/armour to correspond better to a high midright lightsource.

(II) Changed his facial anatomy somewhat, while trying to stay true to the original.

(III) Changed the reflections in the armour to correspond better to the rest (the armreflections below his left arm shouldn t be visable as far as I can see, since the armour would be reflecting downwards n not upwards in that area).

(IV) Added some depth to the body/armour by adding shadows to some flat parts, particularly his right side armour/collar/belt.

(V) Changed the skintone on his left hand which totally different from his facial tone.

Really nice image all in all (but I like the face the least once again).

woah, i think the lighting in loom's really gives the viewer a focus on the expression of the character.

the c&c factory is up and running again :)

This time I have little to argue about, Loominous, it's simly a great modification, subtle and in all aspects agreeable. Thanks for your efforts :)

Seems like the armour, hands, sword etc are all starkly outlined in black, whilst your face is full of subtleties and without such definite boundaries. This could lend somewhat to his strange look.

That said, I quite like it.
