Hello,
I made an inventrory screen based on the verb coin made earlier. Tried to keep it in the same oozy spirit :).
As the verb coin was edited by Progz it appears much better shaded to me than the coin. Is it just me? Or is it plainly wrong shaded? Some pointers would be nice.
Also if you have any suggestions about it's layout or the apperance at all - by all means - post it :)

*EDIT* Oh, remember that inventory shows up after right click, so it's not on the screen whole the time :)

Inventory:

Verb-coin:

PS. If by any chance Progz reads it and wants to do an edit PLEASE give me some pointers how to shade slimy things in pixel art first...I was trying so haaaard on it...Ran out of ideas at this point :/

Matti

It doesn't look bad. Can't give any tips for the shading but the only thing that bugs me is the pink color you use. I'd prefer red or at least something different to that pink..

SpacePaw

Well I can try to make the pallete more reddish on both verb coin and inventory...

Pink?  The brightest red color is R:222 G:64 B: 67, which isn't exactly pink.  Pink is closer to 255 red and half green and blue.  It's true that the red is a bit light, but I think you need to find a monitor tutorial and adjust your colors, matti :).

I think the gui and colors look good, just add some aliasing around the top of the highlights and it should be fine.  This gets rid of the 'jagged' look you get when you place a dark color right next to a light color.  Take a look at what I do in the lower right side of the gui:

Also, I think the arrow and x icons could benefit from one bright highlight color at their top corners, but aside from that I think you're on the right track.

Haha, yeah, I just realized that my gamma settings were wrong. My laptop's stupid graphic card doesn't let me adjust the contrast and the monitor is too bright. I have installed drivers to adjust the gamma value but everytime I play a game this value is set back to normal, so sometimes I forget to change it again.

But still I think that it's a bit too bright, though really only a bit...  ;)

Woo thankies Progz! Just what I needed :) a small guide for me to analyze and practice - thanks very much! lemme work on it and upload updated version then! :)

SpacePaw

Ok I applied antialiasing (at least I tried) how does it look now? What else can I do?
Also changed the reds to more red :)

Dualnames

It's good, resembles the style of the Verb Coin so well, it's rather cool. ;D
Worked on Strangeland, Primordia, Hob's Barrow, The Cat Lady, Mage's Initiation, Until I Have You, Downfall, Hunie Pop, and every game in the Wadjet Eye Games catalogue (porting)

ravenfusion

It looks mint, the verb coin in particular looks very nice. ;)

SpacePaw

Thank you for the nice comments :) I suppose I'll stay with it then, just as it is, and move on to other things :)
