Title: Left-handed drawing
Post by: Jayel on Fri 28/05/2004 02:04:53
one of my profs
I'm right-handed, by the way.
:)

one more...

Drawing with the "wrong" hand seems to give the kind of look I can't imitate with my right hand.  I like the results so far.

I don't get it.. Did you draw that left handed?

Yes.
I should've been more specific.

I wish I could draw with my right hand like you with your left!

I would like to be as ambitexturous (spelling?) as you. I am left handed, and I looks awful when I do anything with the right hand

That girl with the (bleeding?) eyes is FANTASTIC! That's better than I do with my left-hand (and I'm left-handed). I think this is known as extreme jealousy...

I've once read that ur left hand mainly communicates with ur right brainside... which is considered to be the creative side of ur brains...and your right hand with your left brainside which is the logical side....Which should explain that lots of "creative" people are lefthanded/you should be able to be more creative using your left hand....
not sure if this is a fact though....Anyways I love these pieces!

I too am left handed ...

I mess around, ocassionally, drawing with my right.Ã,  I don't think my right handed results are as good as your left handed though.

Fun Fact
The ancient greeks considered left-handed people to be evil.Ã,  The Greek word for left-handed is 'sinistares' (sp?) which is where the word 'Sinister' comes from.

KaaZ. Do you perhaps have an armpit fetish?

I too am left handed, but when I draw with my right hand, I just looks like a kindergartner got a hold of a pencil and some wet cardboard...

His avatars just keep seeming to..... develop, don't they. Next they'll be having armpit sex or something. If that's possible...

I'm right handed... but yeah, ditto.

Those drawings look really good, considering you didn't draw them with your dominant hand.

So how good do you need to be before it stops being known as 'drawing with your unprefered hand' and starts being called ambidexturousness (!$#@ I wish a could spell)

Fabo work Jayel you put a smile on my dial but shame in my heart - strike that , reverse it.

thanks guys.  This is a fun and frustrating experiment I plan to pursue further.
kaaZ, your post reminds me of this book I read years ago... "drawing with right side of the brain" or something orother.  hmmm if that's true I should be drawing with my left hand predominantly.

That creepy bleeding girl is great.

Btw, i'm right handed. Never really attempted to draw anything with my left hand. I did try to write though... let's just say, the result was less than successful.

I'm curious to see what you normally draw like. Not curious enough to search the forums though :)

I'm left handed, but all my game artwork is done right handed with the mouse. I just can't control a mouse as well with my left hand, I guess because I've used a mouse right handed for 20 years. My first mouse was the AMS mouse for the BBC micro, and the cord was too short to stretch to the left of the computer!

well, I don't have many right hand work on my computer at the moment, but you can take a look at some of my past monkey island fan art here:

actually it isn't good comparison, since they're paintings and what you see above are sketches...

You are quite fantastic, Jayel.  Please keep posting more of your artwork.  I would love to see more, and you have an instant fan right here.  Your characters are just so emotional and full of expression in a caricature kind of way; they're very aesthetically pleasing.

Me too. I've admired those Elaine paintings since they've been around. You are a good artist. You could make big money

I'd give my right arm to be ambidextrous.

I like the sketches so far Jayel. I've tried to draw using "squiggly" lines before but it always end up looking forced. Drawing with the left hand is out of the question for me though, I can barely eat an apple using it.

What are you going to do with this style, if you don't mind me asking?

Esseb:
well, I was planning to use my left hand to draw menu buttons, decorations, etc. for my new webpage, but now that I think about it, it seems kinda silly.

Please don't revive a threads, especially ones half a year old, just to make a mad face. You could have at least written a sentance on why you needed to insert the mad smiley. Please use PMs if you feel the need to express your anger about old threads.
