Hey people, what's up?
I've just finished making the first version of a website I've been working on for a while. I just started studying web design at school and figured a good way to learn would be creating a site for someone else, and not just for myself. Well, my brother, who is a comic artist as well as an illustrator, mentioned he wanted a website, so I made one for him.

http://www.tricke.se/

I'd love some comments and suggestions on how to improve it. Design, features, navigation, anything would be really helpful. I'm not the one who made the art, but I'm sure my brother would like to hear some comments on that too. Obviously the site is in Swedish, so you won't understand much of it, but I think navigating it shouldn't be too hard. To make it easier, I can translate the main menu for ya:

Home

Art
Comics
Illustrations
Contact
The artist

To view one of the comics in full, simply click the small version. Thanks a bunch!

Hey Newton,

Site looks good - nothing that bugs me about it, so I don't have much critique, just wanted to say the first cartoon with the migrant fox from denmark really made me smile :) Sweden is a nice place, and the housing is cheap, that's why danes move there - we're not really after the sheep, i promise.Ã,  ::)

come on fred! you're making us look like sheep shaggers...

Nice site Newton, I also enjoyed the cartoons...

Reminds me of the best period of the belgium comic (Hergé, Peyo...) Although that simbols over the vowels make me think you are skandinavian, no? I would add an English translation, so your art can reach mor epeople. :)

EDIT: Oh, Swedish, sorry...  :)
Are you guys ready? Let' s roll!

He said it's swedish. I agree that the comics look great, especially their traditionalism. I also agree that there should be an English translation. Localization in today's world is a big no no. Unless your target market is very specific and restricted, you really should offer English as an option, although I didn't have a problem reading it :D.

The site itself looks good. The light brown-darker brown-white combination works well, and the composition is simple and nice. No difficulty here. You might want to add some kind of pop-up larger image thing for the art. Some of the art might require viewing as a larger version, although I can't really name any of them now.

Good!

Well, it isn't easy on us dialup users, but then again, what is nowadays.

The navigations is clear, but in the comics, I can't help but think that all 6 could be shown directly, without a thumbnail, which isn't a thumbnail as much as a cropped comic. Don't be afraid to use text links even though it is a visual. Also, the menu is lost when viewing a full comic, it could still be there on even 1024*740. On the illustrations, thumbnails however (and I do mean small pics and lots of them on the same page) would be nice, and the "next" and "previous" buttons are not that functional unless you casually stroll through the site. It is ok for the average viewer, ofcourse, but a potentional job provider might be annoyed by the lack of oversight.

The colors are nice and mellow, easy on the eyes and perfect for displaying the visual content. Perhaps too minimalistic, some noise could do wonders.

I've seen his work in "Uti vår Hage" or perhaps "91:an". Some collab with Magnus Knutsson. Nice stuff.

Can I suggest a consistent width for the centre area so that the menus to the right don't keep popping left then right as it's loading images?

It reminds me of my site... no graphics. ;)

Spice it up with a little bit of imagery and it will be great!
