This is a living room to a small flat which also happens to be where my main character sleeps.
I've gone for this montagey effect which I've been playing with lately and I'm liking it.
A few finishing touches are needed as well as a bit of shading but what does everyone think so far?

Can anyone spot the reference to another AGS game?
I think the texture on the left wall has a wrong angle. Otherwise your style is uncommon, but not bad. Will you leave the ceiling as it is?
And with the reference you surely mean the prism poster, that can be seen in Ben Jordans room, if I remember correctly ^^
I think that the couch looks a bit out of place, like its not sitting on the floor, maybe add some shadows when u apply the shading? I do like the style and hope the rest turns out as good as this
The carpet makes my eyes burn, and the welcome mat looks out of place for a living room.
That's it from me, cause to be honest, I don't like this "montagey" style at all.
IMO, good gfx are all about consistency.
Okay, Ive dumbed some of the harsh colours down and added shadows...
What d'ya think?

That looks better, though the large shadow on the back wall is confusing me.
Another thing that bothers me is the thick black outlines on the wood furniture and the walls, which the couch, welcome mat don't have, and the window has a not so think outline.
The couch does look much better desaturated.
The big shadow implies that there's a very bright spotlight *directly* outside the window.
The effect I was trying to acheive was that of an early morning sun. So I thought if the sun was low and bright it would be shining directly through his window and there would be no light hitting the back wall.
I'm going to leave it pretty much as it is I think. I might add a few finishing touches like curtains at a later date, but I'm eager to get on and make some more backrounds/characters/objects and then start programming.
But thanks all for your comments and If I haven't applied some of your suggestions it doesn't mean I haven't taken them into account, It's just I'm on a deadline and this was originally intended to be an exercise in programming rather than design.
