Title: Logo
Post by: Privateer Puddin' on Fri 18/07/2003 13:41:23
Been trying to do a logo for Fading Moon Software (what i plan to release my stuff under)

Want to keep it simple but not that happy with it

I like the picture, but the font is somewhat boring.

nice pic. i think you should center it.

There's a lot of white area around the small logo, maybe add a sort of framing to make it look less white, a thick frame but not a simple straight one... Hmm...

The font is ok, you could put it in italics for more interestingness(:P).

Beats me. :D I was working on my background blitz entry and then I saw this and used that font... I bought one of those 5000 fonts cds so I could look but it may take me a while... ;)

Cool Font! I'd make it a bit less green though :P.

I tried something like a frame or something, hope you don't mind:

Logo's are the only arty thing I'm at least mildly good at. :P
But this didn't come out too well.

Even though it does say Custard, I think it would look better if the text was AA and if it was a darker shade of grey...

lets see

its massively big? (well, for a 320 200 game)
it totally goes against the pixelly style i was going for?

good effort though :)

tnx, 1. I could make it 320x200 ... 2. I can change the colour depth with photoshop ;)

Post by: Evil on Fri 18/07/2003 23:16:13
You could also pixel it :P

Reminds me of Neverwinter Nights... I like the 1st one...

those look like photoshop-newbie-effects-on-top-of-it-all pics..
but the first version looks good.

I agree the first one (the one with the Plastic Wrap filter hehe) looks nice. Less colors look a bit strange, and more outlining is very nice. The logo is very good!

here's an attempt to make the outlined look less filtery..

Minimi's lesser colours one seems best of those three, but it should be made clearer, less anti-aliased somehow.

It's nowhere near custard's original idea, which in my opinion was quite good looking. White canvas always gives a bit of freshness.

If I was making this logo, I'd enlarge the moon to fill about a third of the screen and remove the text. Then using AGS's amazing transparency-features I'd make the FADING MOON SOFTWARE text appear on top of the moon.

Then you'd hear all sorts of cool atmospheric sounds et all  :D ;D

I dunno about the others but the first one is Plastic Wrap filter. :)
The new outlines look great Synthetique, much smoother. But outlines are still just outlines, they need something more I think, I just don't know what exactly. Perhaps use Plastic Wrap on the outlined version, since the first effect seems to be favoured. ;)

I definitely prefer the first version although I don t think the font is very fitting.

Here s an idea:

I used a font called 'Lucida Sans Unicode' which is a standard font.

Yummy.  I like the unicode one.  You might try ITC Korinna, if you can find it.  It has straight sides, but the ends of the lines have a distinctive curve, but not a serif.  Looks nice.

I like loominous' pic. It's simple and does what it's meant to do.
