Hello Everybody,
I've been working on this Verb Coin for a while and just recently picked it up again. Ive got a problem with posing the hand. As it is now is 'ok' i guess, but i cant figure out how to pose it when its 'open'.
I'd also be interested in any kind of paint overs or suggestions regarding either palette or shading.
The odd skin colour is intended, its the same one i'm using for characters in this project so id ask you not to mess with that too much.

any feedback is greatly appreciated.
Not to confuse you, but here's an early draft of the same idea, i left this one because there where to many shades involved and i moved on to simpler two-tone shading for the current version.

What kind of game is it (genere/theme and what style it is in)?
I don't want to give anything away at this point but it will fall into the genre of Sci-Fi Horror.
My attempt is pretty bad but might give you an idea:

I'd actually say the closed hand's position is already wrong. The inside of the hand should face towards the camera, no matter if it's closed or open.
Thanks Ben that's a great thing to work from. i found it very hard to make the fingers stand out at all, i like what you did.

I'm not sure what you mean by that, you mean that the wrist should be coming in from the right or something?
It looks like it would fit into a John Carpenter adventure game. Maybe add a single pixel outline to the key icons that changes tone when highlighted.

Open your hand, then look at your palm (LINK (http://chocolateword.net/wp-content/uploads/2008/07/fig6_palm_of_hand.jpg)). He meant that it didn't really look like hand (it's not the usual depiction of it at least).
The open/closed might be open fist (palm facing the camera) turns to a closed fist, like you'd grab a staff or a pipe in your hand.
