Hello,

just wanted to hear some comments on the following background. I sketched it on paper first and then drew it in PSP. It's supposed to be some sort of university campus, maybe a few years in the future. I'll add at least 3 more buildings, a lot more plants and some details. Just wanted to hear on how you like it so far. BTW this is my first BG.

That's very impressive for your first background!

Just a couple of comments:
1. With so much greenery on the tree to the left of building 17 I'm not sure I should still be able to see the edge of the building so much.
2. I'm intrigued as to what building 17 is used for?  It's only just over the width of a single character (unless that's a HUGE door?!)... Doesn't look like there'd even be enough room to walk past another person in there... :)  I'm all for oddly shaped buildings but I'm stumped for a usage! :)

Excellent quality background, it also reminds me a bit of the one InCreator was just working on.  I've only got a couple nagging items:

The fog's obviously rather thick as it cuts out your view of the grass only a few feet back.  However, wouldn't it be a little more visible in the foreground?  Some cloudy wisps at knee-height or so would help add some volume to it and show that it's very misty out instead of appearing as though it's merely a device to avoid drawing some of the details.

Building 17 is rather narrow.  I can understand a 1-door width for an entrance but only if it opens up later into something larger (unless that's a massive door).  The trees as well seem to be hugging the building a bit too closely.  I'm sure even in the future they're worried about roots causing structural collapse.  One is also left to wonder whether the trees were there first and they built a very skinny building in the space between or whether they coincidentally grew parallel so closely without being removed.  I think an ideal solution would be to eliminate one tree and extend the building's width that direction and possibly (if it's not too much trouble) move the other tree away a few feet.

Again, great work and I really like the style you've done it all in.  The combo of black outlines and no outlines does throw me off a bit though.  Maybe if you replaced the buildings black with dark shades of their primary color?

First off, if it's only supposed to be a FEW years in the future, the buildings probably look way too futuristic. Most university campuses I've seen are fairly old, and have and have old-looking architechture to match. By that token, it'd almost have to be something from quite a lot of years away.

As far as the picture itself goes, it's very nice, but the texture of the buildings, fruit and clouds don't match that of the trees, road, bushes and grass -- the latter group is too grainy in comparison, IMO. Either make the smooth stuff more textured or the grainy stuff more smooth, and I think your picture will mesh together a lot better.

... Actually, it's the grainy things that bother me more than anything at a second glance, especially the tress and bushes.  I don't like that there's as many pixels out there that look like they're floating in space. These particles don't look like small leaves at all to me.

You might also consider a lighter outline on at least the light building, it makes for too sharp a contracts with the surrounding elements of the background.

Don't get me wrong, though -- it's very nice.

Weight-watchers' university obviously! :)

Seriously, that is a pretty sweet BG. The only thing that looks a little odd is the bush in the foreground. Because it stretches perfectly from the near edge of the path to the far edge, it appears to lie on top of the path. Maybe shift it a little bit down?

I like the bac round personely. the way the buildinds are drawing it looks like meny years inthe future were what we call future is old school, the lines look worn as if its old, in sorta hg wells "time traveller" way. but not all univ's are old. you should see some of the ones in my old land of canada. look up universaty of northern b.c. for of one of MAny future looking univs. Maybe in your game univeers there was some HUGE earth quakes, and almost all buildings of any age were destroyed. only some protected relecs remain.,like building 17.  it also looks like anime. so that earthqwuake thing would fit

Wow, that's very good? Would you draw some backgrounds for my game? I'm not going to need many of them, I think, as the game is very short.
