Title: Medieval Gate
Post by: Hobbes on Sun 27/03/2005 19:27:22
Hello all,

I've been drawing a new room for Buccaneer 2 today... It's something I'm quite pleased with, although there are still some perspective issues in it... what do you think?

Note: I've double-sized it for easier viewing.

Edit: Added Strazer's modification.

Very nice.

The wall seems flat, maybe you could show the side of it on the left side of the arch.
Also, I would make the background seen through the gate gradually hazier/darker to show it's farther away.

Edit: Spelling

I like it a lot.
the only thing that bothers me is that the floor perspective is not right.
the pebbles apear as seen from above, and we are acually looking at them from the side

the rest looks very nice, and the characters look superb

I think its quite good but the guards plate looks a lot like a T-shirt but others details are very good and I realy love the tree

Reply: Edited it to reflect "cobbles" problem. How does it look now?

Also, to clarify the T-shirt issue:

I was aiming for something like that... with a nice golden Dutch lion on a red shirt.

Give the guard a belt and make his robes a tiny bit longer.

That way you'll get rid of the t-shirt effect.

It looks awesome, but prespective work may help it out a bit.

The indented section is a diferent prespective then the road and gate. It looks fine, just a little out of place imo.

I actually see nothing wrong with your original, this is more to give to give you some ideas if you decide you need more guards (and to satisfy some of your critics) ;).
