C&Cs needed for characters for my game

Hi guys,

I'm currently in the middle of developing a game (started out programming the engine myself plus it was a 2D puzzle platformer but I now feel that an adventure game is more suited to the story I want to tell) and I was wondering if I could get some comments and critiques on some characters on my game.

My first character is the main character Lexie Sarander. She is a fiery 8 year old girl from 1930s Portland, Oregon who yearns to explore like her great hero, Sir Earl McGuffin, and find new untouched lands. However she is stuck in city life, with parents (Callum and Theresa Sarander)that wish their daughter to become a ballet dancer like her three older sisters, Beckie, Macy and Tracey. On the night of a big show that she has been forced to practise for, she puts on her McGuffin branded jacket and explorer hat and runs from home to explore the forests near her town.

I am quite happy with the design but I feel that perhaps her stance is a bit... stiff? Any comments or constructive criticism is welcomed! :)

She looks sweet. maybe lighten up the pitchblack outline on hey eyes a bit.
And maybe it helps to pixel the refelections on the goggles differently for every sideview? Aren't there usually lamps on explorerhats, not goggles?
There is a part of the story missing in your post ;)

Thanks for the feedback! The goggles were inspired by the goggles worn by the younger Frank in Pixar's Up ;)

While my story is partially inspired by the film, it differs in that the child in question is discouraged by her parents to explore whereas in Up they all seem to be free to do so. Also the story is still in the idea oven and could be doing with a bit longer before I say any more :P

As for your editing suggestions, the goggle reflections is a good one. Will add that in a minute! The eye outline is tough one, as I actually quite like it! But I'll mess around in photoshop and see what I can do!

She is rather cute and really nice style

Maybe some slight alterations:
- left lens fixed, whole goggles moved right a bit
- lighten the eyeshadow
- shorter narrower skirt, but longer legs
- jacket shorten
- pixel on the left side removed so the hair seems to be going into the helmet
- shading on the neck

Two tips though
- when making a post, there's an img tag to post pictures, but there's also the imgzoom tag, which lets you enlarge the picture (when you with the mouse over the image) on the forum (instead of you enlarging it the way you did manually)
- please get someone to proof read the game

Just added the imgzoom onto my first post thanks! ;)

Love your edit, the shorter jacket and longer legs definitely looks better. Also the goggle was a good shout too, does look a little odd on the original. Also your proof reading comment, the story of the game is in very early stages at the moment, but yes I planned on doing so once I had the full concept fleshed out :)

Thanks for your suggestions and critiques :D
