Although I discovered AGS in early 2005, I still haven't manage to publish one single game (except a very short Maniac Mansion Mania episode).
To be able to concentrate on puzzles and story more, I've chosen to use an even more minimalistic style (old (http://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/yabb/index.php?topic=22265) bgs (http://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/yabb/index.php?topic=24389)).

I know, the walls are quite empty yet, anything besides that?
And in case you wonder, the transparent thingie is a flatscreen TV suspended on the opposite wall.
Just one TINY TEENY thing that annoys me.
The "w" on the "wc" that has one side of the w bigger than the other. (two pixels wide)
(EDIT: And before anyone says it, I'm aware it's the font they used)
wait, so it's a toilet? I thought it was a fridge.Ã, :-[
At least put a door knob on it!
Otherwise I like it, reminds me of little computer people! (The angle)
I think it looks good, reminds me of Little Computer People! One thing I would suggest is that if you use shadows make sure you apply them to everything. The chair, coat, and monitor all need shadows for example.
A screenshot from the Amiga version of LCP in case you were curious:

I suggest ONE extra tone of shade to everything. It would only improve everything.
Also, if you have little of colors, you should use them more intensely and wisely -- aquire a bunch of 16-color EGA games and check out the shading, it will help you alot.
For example, I tried to improve shading on the elevator thingy (assuming it's cylindrical). No colors were added, but shading was corrected. Dithering (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dithering#Digital_photography_and_image_processing) could do much better job, though.

Perhaps making to different kind of ceiling lights. Apart of this, it's good to me, and moreover I think the transparent TV screen is good idea.
Great suggestions, thanks everyone.
Here's a new version:

Added a floor board and some shadows on couch. I love your style. The apple house is still my favorite though.
I would love to see this background in action. Lovely stuff! :)
What bugs me is that both of those doors look different from each other. I think they should both have the same form, so it would be more obvious that they're both doors. I would give the kitchen door the form of the WC door to make it fit in the house better.
But as said, great stuff!
Looks great. Just have 4 things I wanna ask
1.What's the part of the room with the door supposed to be?
It looks like it's a round, futuristic elevator-tube that you walk into and get "sucked" up to the next floor.
2. Isn't WC-door a fiew pixels too narrow?
3. Shouldn't the desk and first and foremost the closet have a bit darker colour and some more shading? The closet looks kinda unappealing right now.
4. The white frame around the kitchen door looks ugly. Change the colour to something darker. (Okay that wasn't a question..)
Ok, here's the latest:

-added subtle shading to couch, I was playing with the idea of adding floorboards, too, but decided not to, thanks Evil!
-changed kitchen door, thanks Pablo!
-darkened the desk & closet, thanks Hajjamujja!
1. yes, it's an elevator
2. no, check out the char's front view, I think it fits
3. see above
4. ditto
I'll move on now, as mentioned in my first post I don't want to stick too long with one bg, and it's good enough now, IMO.
Please post, if you think otherwise, though :)
This looks quite nice, perfect for an adventure game. I've got a few critiques to give however, if you don't mind...
1. I agree that the frame around the kitchen entrance isn't very attractive. I suggest removing the frame and adding a darker shade of green around on side of the entrance for a bit of depth.
2. I can't figure out what's going on with the TV (I presume that's what it is?) and the purple couch. Is the TV in front of the couch? Perhaps it would look better somewhere else, even if it doesn't make sense.
3. The water closet door stands out a bit too much for my tastes. Perhaps a darker blue would suffice.
The TV has been bothering me. It looks like it has two legs where the couch is. And now the person above me is confused. I think the TV was far better when it was transparent.
You have a futuristic lift and the doors have no handles. Is it like star trek/a supermarket where the doors have sensors and automatically open and go inside the wall? That would look cool.
While designing the apartment, I pictured it to be a bit futuristic. Thus the elevator; and the two doors are indeed meant to be sliding doors.
I might make them open automatically if the char is nearby, I might make them voice controlled, so the char has to tell them to open or close. As of yet, neither the kitchen nor the bathroom are relevant to the plot, and I want to concentrate on other things, minor issues like that will be resolved during the final polishing.
The TV is suspended on the wall opposite to the couch. I've coded it to become transparent when the player character passes behind it, as you can see in the first post.
You know, if there are no actions with the couch, is it necessary to have the couch facing out? As long as the arm rests sit out from the main part of the couch, you could flip the whole thing around. Then you don't have to deal with transparencies or anything like that...well, except for a walk behind.
