Title: Missing walking frame
Post by: JackAnimated on Tue 19/12/2006 14:21:52
I want a simple walk cycle for this little guy. I feel that I need one more movement frame in the walk cycle.

Between 2 and 3
and
4 and 1

but I cant seem to draw it right.

Any help would be brilliant.

You should try going to Kafka's Coffee, or Eric's site. It can be found on the Resources and Tutorials part of the AGS main site. Look for a in-betweens tutorial that can help you to add more frames.

My advice would be to add another frame after the second, but make the leg almost out stretched, with the heel almost touching the ground. Also keep the frames at the same level, because frames 2 and 4 are 1 pixel below frames 1 and 3. I would demonstrate but I am on a school computer.

EDIT: Heres a low res animation I made not too long ago:

Notice how her left leg is contacting the ground in front of her, then how it gradually moves and bends back behind her hips. Those are in=betweens. They're really easy once you get the hang of it. :)

I added a 2 frames in between the frames you mentioned...

However, you could add 2 more and really smooth it out. 1 and 2 and 3 and 4 have spaces that frames could go and you could also smooth out his head bob in that way.

Also, I second what R4L said about keeping things on the same level, when I positioned the feet so they were on the same pixel the head bob was there which helps.

Also also, I recommend not saving as jpegs when posting sprite work but use png or gif instead.

Wow, thank you so much, both of you. I will open up that gif MrColossal to see what you did.
