Darth Mandarb's avvy REDRAWN (Different Style)

Hey, I got bored so I started working on a new style. Then I was browsing the forums and copied Darth's avvy into paint (For colours and a closer look at the shading) and had a go at redrawing it. Here's what I got:



Costume, colour pallette and character by Darth Mandarb.

Yup, working on it. I've already done some changes to the face (Such as the nose).

Edit: Eyes fixed now. The eyes were pointing towards each other instead of straight on.

Just wondering, do you think that the body is too big? Because it makes the arms seem kinda long. Not sure though.

Here they are, keep in mind that my new style has only just developed like... Today and some are incomplete sprites (A quickly finished one of the incompletes is in my sig)


I took off a really good Guybrush sprite because I drew straight from an image, it was still original but it was too alike to the real thing. All these are done just from either memory or original drawing. Also, the two in bottom left are really old sprites from 2003.

dont you think its kinda tight? copying someones own work "editing" it to make it "look better". And then asking people how much better it looks and how can it be improved even more?

i thought darths avatar was brilliant as it was, and it was his own unique style. This sprite seems too much like a modified version of darths style. I do like it, but i think you should try and make it even more unique. Change the posture,re-draw the face. Because it really does look like a modded darth sprite.

Hmmm.. I didn't "edit" Darth's sprite. I was working on a new style while I was bored and decided to try drawing Darth's spite in this style. Yes, it does look alot like it but that was the point of doing it. This is only practice, and I don't mean to offend anyone, especially Darth. This sprite is just inspired by some of the work I've seen him do, and I was thinking of asking him if I could use it in a game (Not as a completely different character but still representing the same character).

Also, I haven't posted another sprite in this style so the C&C is mainly based on style, not how much it is better or worse.

On a side note though, I've changed the eyes slightly to look like my usual style and the nose has different shading. Might be redoing the skin colour pallete.

I think it's excellent!

It reminds me a lot of Zephrem Cochrane from Star Trek : First Contact for some reason.

But it's great!  Has more detail than mine, and looks more like I would have made him if I wasn't restricted by size!  (It was for another project that I put on hold a few months back!)

I need to edit a few things though. The head seems a bit chubby (That is if it isn't for a cartoony game) and the pose isn't great. I thought I could get better colours for the skin but damn, they are almost perfect. I'm fixing up the jacket too since the sleevs seem like they are from the top underneath.

Liar... Your sprites and backgrounds are alot better. Just gotta mess around with the face a little and the head shape and it'll be finished.

Whoa..That rules.

I mean I don't have any experience spriting, I guessI  could try and start but every time I try I really suck it all up.
But I know what looks good and that definately does.
